As The Crow Flys
As The Crow Flys are Sue Nordman and John Hicks, a bluesy folk/rock duo from southeastern Michigan. Singer Sue Nordman croons stories of sad existentialism in a smoky warble, while guitarist John Hicks provides musical backdrops for these soul-searching journeys that range from hypnotizing to soothing to downright depressive. The two met at a local blues jam several years ago and have been performing together regularly ever since. They have gained notoriety for their electrifying performances, natural stage presence, and wide range of material. Sue and John present a balance of original tunes and covers, and are sure to delight fans of Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, The Cowboy Junkies and Janis Joplin.
Saturday, November 19 -

New Music CDs at Crazy Wisdom
Ocean cd
by Mirabai Ceiba
Although not brand new, this cd has become one of my favorites. Ocean's songs and chants carry you on a gentle tide of harp, acoustic guitar, cello, bansuri flute, tablas, and the delicate interweaving of Gurmukhi mantra with English and Spanish lyrics. Produced by Spirit Voyage Music, Mirabai Ceiba is influenced by the Kundalini Yoga community of Yogi Bhajan, and are also the musicians and singers of the lovely cd Flores. $17.99

Faery Tale: One Woman's Search for Enchantment in a Modern World (Paperback) By Signe Pike List Price: $15.00
Our Price: $10.50 (Save: $4.50 30%) One of Kirkus Reviews' Best Books of 2010 A skeptic's search for magic, one faery at a time. In search of something to believe in again, Signe Pike left behind a career in Manhattan to undertake a magical journey-literally. In a sweeping tour through England, Ireland, Scotland, and beyond, she takes readers to dark glens and abandoned forests, ancient sacred sites, and local pubs, seeking those who might still believe in the mysterious beings we've relegated to the dusty corners of our childhood imaginations: faeries. But as Signe attempts to connect with the spirit world, she'll come to view herself and the world around her in a profoundly new way. Engaging and full of heart, Faery Tale is more than a memoir-it's the story of rekindling that spark of belief that makes even the most skeptical among us feel like a kid again.
