The Steiner Series A Special Crazy Wisdom Salon Series on Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner's Work
Four nights in October, 7 p.m. at Crazy Wisdom Tea Room · FREE
Building "A Future Worthy of the Human Being": A Special Crazy Wisdom Salon Series on Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner's Work · A century ago, one of the most remarkable human beings of the last millennium, the Austrian-born Rudolf Steiner, undertook to shift the direction of our emerging global civilization. He restored a holistic image of the human being to the center of cultural thought and set out to bring humanity's soul and spiritual resources back into balance with materialistic science, technology, and economics. Trained as a scientist but also a profound esoteric researcher, Steiner developed resources for every individual to evolve herself or himself as a free and creative local change agent in planetary life. In this series of talks/conversations, we will explore his vision, its amazing breadth, and three of its particular applications. Free. For more information, contact Bill Zirinsky at bill@crazywisdom.net, John Beck at editor@anthroposophy.org or Kathy Serafin at kathys@anthroposphy.org.
 | Professor Frederick Amrine and Editor John Beck |
Tuesday, Oct. 4 · Anthroposophy: The Consciousness of Our Humanity with Professor Frederick Amrine and Editor John Beck · Steiner's "spiritual science" aims to awaken just those powers of perception which are excluded in materialistic culture. So we rediscover the cosmic significance of being human and the pattern of repeated lives, and begin to take part as co-designers of the evolutionary plan.

Off the Road by Carolyn Cassady Off the Road tells the intimate story of the legendary Neal Cassady and his remarkable friendships with Jack Kerouac (who immortalized Cassady as Dean Moriarty in On the Road) and Allen Ginsberg. Written by the woman who loved them all--as wife of Cassady, lover of Kerouac, and friend of Ginsberg--this riveting and intimate memoir spans one of the most vital eras in twentieth-century literature and culture, including the explosive successes of Kerouac's On the Road and Ginsberg's Howl, the flowering of the Beat movement, and the social revolution of the 1960s. Carolyn Cassady reveals a side of Neal Cassady rarely seen-that of husband and father, a man who craved respectability, yet could not resist the thrills of a wilder and ultimately more destructive lifestyle.

In his living memory, Suzuki has witnessed cataclysmic changes in society and our relationship with the planet: the doubling of the world's population, our increased ecological footprint, and massive technological growth. Today we are in a state of crisis, and we must join together to respond to that crisis. If we do so, Suzuki envisions a future in which we understand that we are the Earth and live accordingly. All it takes is imagination and a determination to live within our, and the planet's, means. This book is the culmination of David Suzuki's amazing life and all of his knowledge, experience, and passion - it is his legacy.
Douglas & McIntyre Publishing Group - 9781553658283 - $15.95/with in store coupon only $11.17 We've Never Been Alone: A History of Extraterrestrial Intervention by Paul Von Ward Whether you call them gods, angels, ETs, or aliens, sufficient proof now exists that beings more advanced than humans have influenced our history. Evidence suggests that these outsiders shaped our religions, genes, technology, and cultures. In fact, they may have provided the impetus for modern civilization. Paul Von Ward investigates why modern science and religion refuse to address the possibility that humans interact with Advanced Beings (ABs). He reviews sacred texts, myths and legends--from the Old Testament, Hebrew texts, and the Vedas, to the Greek myths, Sumerian tablets, and other historical sources to make the link between religions, their gods, and alien intervention. He shows how this history of AB intervention has been suppressed and challenges readers to reexamine the origins of notions like "divine revelation" to find common ground among the world's cultures and religions.
