Artisans' Gallery & Cafe
New this year, we have a "peach" brewed iced tea along with our regular black tea.  Both taste great when you add some fresh lemon and mint.  Our OVC this week is a "Smart Blend".  This is one of three signature blends made with coffees from Indonesia and Africa and roasted to a full city to bring out its sweetness and favor.  This blend pays homage to the first blend ever created, when coffee from the Isle of Java was shipped to the port of Moka in Arabia.  Both full bodied and very fruit-forward, this coffee is sure to please.  Purchase a bag and receive 2 punches on your Coffee Club card. For the kids, we have homemade lemonade, made with fresh lemons and organic simple syrup. Weekly Specials....for breakfast or lunch, try our baked quiche with fruit and add a 12 oz. Artisans House Coffee for $5.00.  Breakfast scone + 12 oz. House coffee for $3.00 or sandwich wrap + cold beverage (iced tea, iced coffee, or lemonade) for $7.00.

Hello Market Shoppers!

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over and many of our children will be headed back to school on Monday.  We hope that you and your families have enjoyed healthful lunches all summer loaded with farmers' market produce, cheeses, breads and more.  Why not continue the healthful eating by sending nutritious and flavorful lunches to school?  You can stop by our market table this week to browse the book, "Lunch Lessons: Changing the Way We Feed Our Children", by Ann Cooper and Lisa Homes.  Of course you can also take a healthy and delicious lunch to work!  We have put a few great ideass in our recipe section.

Fall is one of the best times to shop at the farmers' market.  Fall greens, root vegetables, and squashes start to appear while we still have summer vegetables too. And then there is the fruit!

We hope to see you at the Market!

Lunch Box Recipes

Mediterranean Chicken Wrap
Wraps are a great way to make a sandwich that won't fall apart. All kinds of variations are possible with this one-try it with olives, hummus, or guacamole

Sliced Chicken Breast
1 Tablespoon Basil Pesto
Roasted vegetables of your choice, portabella mushrroms, red peppers, zucchini or eggplant
1 Tortilla

Spread the tortilla with pesto.

Place chicken and roasted vegetables in the center of the tortilla.

Fold the the ends of the tortilla over the filling and and then roll the tortilla.

Wrap in aluminum foil or plastic wrap.

Yummy Apples & Dip
Of course farmers' market apples are delicious by themselves, but children love dipping things.  This snack has just 2 ingredients:

Apples
FreshaPeel Pumpkin Delight Hummus

Cut the apples into slices and serve with a dish of the hummus.  If you want to send apple slices to school, you can spray them with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.
