Hello Market Shoppers!

It looks like the storms will be gone by Saturday morning, and even if they are not, you can still come down to the market and shop under the protection of the bridge!

We have our usual lineup of great artisan producers this week with some of the best local food around.  Most of the vegetables are picked the day before market, and the breads come out of the oven on Saturday morning- what could be fresher or more flavorful than that!

This week,  local market shopper Sonia DelBusso will be selling lovely photographs that she took while in South Africa.  The proceeds will help build a pediatric ward at the Kikuyu hospital in Kenya.  You can read about the project here.

See you at the Market!!

Recipes & Ideas
I have been looking at some great food blogs with mouth watering recipes and photos.  Take a look at the links below and then take the plunge and try the recipes!

Grilled Garlic Scapes - the first ones are just coming in!  These are shoots that garlic plants send up to make seed heads.  Farmers cut them off so that the plants put all their energy into making plump garlic heads.  Lucky for us!

Mushroom Ragu with Poached Eggs and Croutons
There is nothing like a farm fresh poached egg, and they are so easy to make if you add vinegar to the water.  You can get almost all of the ingredients for this delicious recipe at the market- Eggs from Barb or Jacks, Mushrooms from Oley Valley and you can make the croutons with bread from St. Peters' or Sweetwater.

Arugula Salad with Fennel Slivers, Almonds and Avacado
This yummy salad features two vegetables at the Market this week- arugula and fennel!

If you have a favorite recipe or food blog, why not share it with us!  Email us at info@phoenixvillefarmersmarket.org

Looking Ahead
Next week is Second Saturday and we will have a monthly festival with artists and a band.  As if that wasn't enough to make it a special day, North Star Orchard plans to return that week too!

We will have lots of information about the artists in next week's newsletter.
