Hello Market Shoppers!

This will be our last full market before Thanksgiving and there will be LOTS of great food to celebrate a with very LOCAL and sustainable meal.  In a way, every meal featuring farmers' market food is a Thanksgiving of sorts.   Vegetables, meats, fruits, cheese, wine, and bread all taste a little better when you have met the farmer or artisan who made them.  Of course, our farmers and artisans couldn't pursue their passion without your support in buying their products.  So, on behalf of all of our wonderful producers, we say THANK YOU!  What a wonderful community we have here at the farmers' market!
Wreath
This week we welcome returning farm, Sitko Farms, a local Christmas Tree Farm.  Ruth Sitko and her daughter make wreaths using their own greens and will
have samples so you can order wreaths for pickup during our Holiday Markets.

Three of our bakers,  St. Peters Bakery, Dolly's Dish, and ICED by Betsy,  are taking special orders of baked goods that will be picked up at the market location on Wednesday, November 23rd, between 1pm and 2 pm.  Stop by their stands to order your holiday favorites.

If you are not cooking for Thanksgiving, but traveling to visit family or friends, the Market is a great place to buy hostess gifts.  Ellen April has luscious soaps,  and of course artisan cheeses, local wine, artisan chocolates or smoked salmon make welcome additions to bring along to any feast.

Unfortunately, not everyone in our area has a place to call home and local resident Christy Baxter has gotten involved with a charity to help the homeless, called the Joy of Sox.  You can read more about it below in the News from Our Producers section.   Sadly, many homeless people suffer from foot problems resulting from lack of decent socks.  The Joy of Sox accepts donations of new socks and distributes them in our local area.  If you want to support this project, please bring new socks to the market on Saturday and give them to Christy.

Please don't forget that this Saturday is NOT the end of the Market!  We will be open from 10am to noon with special Holiday Markets every Saturday through December 17th.  On the Saturday of Christmas Eve, several of our farmers and bakers will be bringing pre-ordered items to the Market.  Look for more information about this in future emails.

We wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you at our Holiday Markets.

See you at the Market!

The Joy of Sox:

This Saturday, local resident, Christy Baxter will be

collecting socks for area people who are homeless.  As Thanksgiving draws near, please consider helping her effort by purchasing and donating some new socks for their use this winter.

Look for Christy and "The Joy of Sox" logo at the 11/19 Phoenixville Farmer's Market, rain or shine, and she can take your donation of new socks.

New socks ONLY! Not used -- even gently. The homeless rarely get anything new, so this gift of new socks is a real treat. And, the non-profit The Joy of Sox does not have a large enough facility to launder donations.
In cold weather and with inadequate footgear, a leading health issue for the homeless is infections and issues with their feet. So, brand-new, clean socks can make a real difference.

The ideal socks are white crew socks or tube socks with a reinforced toe and heel. You can purchase these in multi-packs at large stores such as Target, Costco, BJ's, Kmart, etc. Adult sizes and children's sizes are needed.

If you aren't able to come and drop some new socks off at The Phoenixville Farmer's Market, contact me to arrange to mail or drop them by my home in Phoenixville.

Questions? Email christy.baxter@gmail.com.

You can learn more about The Joy of Sox at www.thejoyofsox.org
