Hello Market Shoppers!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we have so many things to make your holiday special.  First of all, this is the last week to order a pasture raised turkey from Mountain View Poultry Farm.  The details are in our "New from Producers" section.

And don't forget to enter our raffle to win a free turkey along with other market goodies.  We will be drawing the winner at the end of the Market on Saturday.

Three of our bakers,  St. Peters Bakery, Dolly's Dish, and ICED by Betsy,  are taking special orders of baked goods that will be picked up at the market location on Wednesday, November 23rd, between 1pm and 2 pm.  Stop by their stands to order your holiday favorites.

If you are traveling to visit family or friends next week, the Market is a great place to buy hostess gifts this week, whether they are one-of-a-kind aprons, hand turned wooden bowls, jewelry, candles, soap, pottery and more!

This week we also celebrate Native American Day with performances by Spirit Wing, Native American storytellers and musicians.  This is the time of year when we stop to give thanks for the bounty of our land and it is appropriate to celebrate the rich history of the Native Americans, original stewards of this beautiful land.

If you are looking for an opportunity to help keep Phoenixville beautiful, why not come shop at the market at 9 and then join  the Phoenixville Green Team who will be holding a clean-up of the French Creek at 10am Tehy will be meeting under the Gay Street Bridge at the market.  Clean-up is 10am -1pm and then they are heading over to the EcoCenter to have some refreshments until 2pm.

See you at the Market!

News from our Producers

Aritsans Gallery & Cafe:

Artisans Gallery & Cafe.....This week we will be featuring One Village Aurora Blend.  Aurora Blend, is one of the lightest roasts of One Village, but also one of the most full-flavored.  It will tantalize your palette with lemony citrus brightness balanced with a caramel-like sweetness, smoothed over with vanilla nuances. This coffee really opens up as it cools, a veritable flavor bomb. If you associate light roast with weak flavor, then you have to give it a shot. And because of the higher caffeine content in the lighter roast, you'll have plenty of time to mull this seeming contradiction over after you breeze through your to to list in record time.

To help with your holiday meal preparations, we will be taking orders on our whole quiche pies. To order, you can fill out an order form at the Market which list all the varieties available or you can send an email to rosemarie@artisansgalley-cafe.com by the Wednesday prior to the market.  Varieties available - Roasted Vegetable, Lorraine-Bacon and Onion,  Italian Vegetable, Spinach &  Mushroom, Roasted Red Peppers, Broccoli & Cheddar, Tomato Bacon & Cheddar, Spinach & Mushroom, Asparagus Cheddar, Ham & Broccoli, Spinach Lorraine.

This the last weekend to bring your donations for the Troops.  This year, Artisans Gallery & Café will be collecting items for Christmas Stocking for the Troops. All items collected will be added to the "Stockings for Soldiers" campaign and shipped to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Items needed -  Large bags of coffee, lemonade flavored mixes, canned fruit, Cracker Jacks, Beef Slim Jims.

1 rib Celery
4 t curry powder
2 butternut squash (medium - about 2-1/2 - 3 lbs), peeled, seeded, and cut into 1" cubes
3 apples (medium), peeled, cored, and chopped

Looking Ahead

Next week, local resident, Christy Baxter will be Joy of Soxcollecting socks for area people who are homeless.  As Thanksgiving draws near, please consider helping her effort by purchasing and donating some new socks for their use this winter.

Look for Christy and "The Joy of Sox" logo at the 11/19 Phoenixville Farmer's Market, rain or shine, and she can take your donation of new socks.

New socks ONLY! Not used -- even gently. The homeless rarely get anything new, so this gift of new socks is a real treat. And, the non-profit The Joy of Sox does not have a large enough facility to launder donations.
In cold weather and with inadequate footgear, a leading health issue for the homeless is infections and issues with their feet. So, brand-new, clean socks can make a real difference.

The ideal socks are white crew socks or tube socks with a reinforced toe and heel. You can purchase these in multi-packs at large stores such as Target, Costco, BJ's, Kmart, etc. Adult sizes and children's sizes are needed.

If you aren't able to come and drop some new socks off at The Phoenixville Farmer's Market, contact me to arrange to mail or drop them by my home in Phoenixville.

Questions? Email christy.baxter@gmail.com.

You can learn more about The Joy of Sox at www.thejoyofsox.org
