Hello Market Shoppers!

The heatwave has broken in time for some comfortable shopping on Saturday and our farmers and artisans will have lots of great food and unique handmade items this week as we welcome artists for our monthly Second Saturday.

This week we will welcome Anne Aycock, from Shepherds Abiding Farm.  Anne raises sheep locally and will bring sheepskins.  Victoria O'Neill will bring her wonderful WrapADoodle Swaddle Blankets to hold a baby. Abide will bring their beautiful table linens, Kimberton Hills will bring a variety of wonderful crafts, Good Samaritan Mens Shelter will bring pictures frames and the Cob Studio will bring whimsical yet functional pottery.

When you come to the market, please remember that the parking near our site is metered and you must put money in the kiosk.  The borough recently voted to make the parking free daily until 2pm, but they are waiting for new signs to implement the change.  We will let you know as soon as the signs are up.  In the meantime, parking is free in the lot at 347 Bridge Street.

See you at the Market!

Recipe

The recipe below highlights garlic scapes which are a very seasonal treat at the Market this month!

Mashed Potatoes with Garlic Scapes

2 1/2 lbs. potatoes, peeled and cut into 1" pieces.

2 Tablespoons butter

1-2 Tbsp, olive oil

1/4 cup finely chopped scapes

1/4 cup hot milk (or more)

Cook potatoes until very tender. Drain and return to pot. Over medium high heat, melt butter with olive oil in a small skillet. Add scapes and saute about 5 minutes. Add to potatoes and mash. Gradually add milk while stirring. Season with salt and pepper.
