| Hello Market Shoppers,
Thank goodness we will have a cooler market this week. We were all so thrilled to see how many of you came out during the intense heat wave and we all appreciated the shade of the bridge! This weekend is supposed to be very pleasant and will be a great day to come out and enjoy the uplifting music of Michael Kropp and pick up those summer veggies! There will be hot peppers, tomatoes, corn, peaches, plums and more!
As some of you have discovered, the metered parking near the market is confusing and the parking authority is ticketing on Saturdays. In order to avoid getting a ticket, please read the sign for the lot where you park. Remember, parking is free at the District Court Building at 347 Bridge
Street. If you park in one of the numbered spots closer to the Market, be sure to read the sign to make sure it is an hourly lot. The spaces closest to the bridge are reserved for borough residents, but the ones closer to our old site are hourly. We are sorry for any inconvenience that the parking may present, but we hope the wonderful food our farmers and artisans make will make the trouble worth your while!
This is the last week to join our July raffle, so don't forget to stop by and enter for free to win a basket full of market goodies! This month's basket includes:
Fresh Produce from North Star Orchard Cookies from Marci's Morsels Goat Cheese Spread from Shellbark Hollow Farm Cheese from Birchrun Hills Farm 4-pack of ICED by Betsy cupcakes Bars of Soap from Soap by Pat A full hour body massage with Susan Maddon Cox from Ocean Earth Wind Fire Also, we all know that Artisan Cafe is the best coffee shop, so lets all support them in the Philly Hotlist Contest! |
Producer of the Week
Birchrun on a Roll Farm Fresh Food to Go birchrunonaroll@gmail.com She came from afar to bring you the best of local foods. When Ruth Statt moved from New York State to help her cousin, Sue Miller, and the Miller Clan make cheese at the Birchrun Hills Farm, she didn't realize she'd soon be offering the tastiest local fare around town. Randy & Jesse Miller, Sue's sons, raise cows and pigs. It didn't take long to figure out that bockwurst and franks should be made with the delicious veal and pork produced on the farm. Working at various other farmers' markets Ruth noticed she couldn't find hot food to eat. And so, Birchrun on a Roll was born. Birchrun on a Roll offers Birchrun Franks w/natural casing, which have less fat than store bought hot dogs and Bockwurst, also w/natural casing. Before grilling, both types of sausages are first simmered in Dark Ale from Phoenixville's own Iron Hill Brewery. They are served on buns baked fresh by Phoenixville's newest baker, Jerry, of Brick Oven Bread and Cheese Shoppe at 138 Bridge Street. They are delicious just plain on the bun, or for a savory delight, try them with Mango Tango sauce provided by our own Country Time Farm. If mustard is more your style, Hot Beer Mustard from Wild Flower Café is also available. While it's easy to get hooked on the Birchrun Franks and the Bockwurst, make sure you ask Ruth what she has prepared each week. Sometimes it is farm-fresh egg salad sandwiches, other times it is veal stew or veal chili. It's always fresh, always local, and always delicious. For greater comfort, Ruth has recently added a couple of café tables and chairs. So stop by and meet Ruth, try the Birchrun Franks and Bockwurst, or whatever is this week's newest Phoenixville Farmers' Market favorite.
