What's New....

Dolly's Dish - Dolores Winston, Phoenixville local will be bringing her famous custard sweet potato pies to the market this year!  They come in 3" and 6" mini pies and 8" and 10" large pies.  Dolly's Dish will also be having a contest to give away a pie this weekend!  My favorite part of working at the market is tasting the treats before they come aboard and Dolly's pies are perfectly spiced and over the top delicious.

Handcrafted Cookie Co.,
another Phoenixville favorite, produces all-natural, gourmet cookie dough and desserts in small batches using premium ingredients and without hydrogenated fats, corn syrup or other dubious additives.  They bring tantalizing flavors like Lavender Vanilla, Raspberry Mint, Chocolate Hotties, Classic Chocolate Chip and many more! Their flavors are described here.

Iced by Betsy is new this year to Phoenixville, but was a weekly must-have at the Alpharetta Farmers Market in Georgia!  Betsy Gibbons creates mini works of art that are almost to perfect to eat!  We loved each one and especially the twisted lime, which Betsy describes as, "my favorite pie turned cupcake! Lime infused cupcake filled with Key Lime curd. Topped with Key Lime Cream Cheese Icing, Graham Cracker, and a slice of lime."  All of her flavors are described here.

Kimberton Hills Dairy, a biodynamic dairy farm at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills joined us this winter at the market.  Kimberton Hills is a certified organic raw milk dairy integrated into an intentional community which includes adults with special needs and abilities.  Stephanie Christo and staff will bring bottled fresh milk  from their pastured cows.  They are also able to take special orders for beef shares and raw milk cheese.

Lenape Garden Designs is a new provider at the market this season.  Jenna Wadsworth will be bringing naturally grown cut flowers and herbs, potted plants and hanging flower baskets to the market.

Saint Peters Bakery also joined us this winter.  Melanie Melle and her staff make delicious breads and pastries in the French tradition.  Her bakery is located in historic Saint Peters' Village.

Marci's Morsels has created a new line of gluten free baked goods and will also continue to bring her popular traditional cookies!

Willow Creek will be at the market for a limited time this season with asparagus and strawberries!

Hello Market Shoppers!

Spring glorious spring!  Time for opening day at the Phoenixville Farmers Market!

We are so excited about the upcoming season.  Our new location under the Gay Street Bridge is going to be a wonderful place to spend Saturday mornings!  And it is only a few hundred feet from our old location so it is easy to find. In fact, you can park in the lot where we used to be for $1 per hour and then walk over to the bridge.  Alternatively, You can park, free of charge, in the lot next to the District Court Building at 347 Bridge Street. Please remember that the lot by Family Dollar is private and reserved for their customers.

This week we have several new providers, which are highlighted on the left.  We are also excited to have the Joe Hillman band kicking off the season!

It is Mother's Day weekend and we have great gifts from our artists and our specialty food providers.  This is a great opportunity to pick up some fresh cut flowers, chocolates, Mom's favorite cheese, plants for her garden, cupcakes, cookies, pie, the options are endless!  Children can even make a Mother's Day card or picture.

Thanks for supporting the market and I hope you enjoy what is going to be a great season!

Spotlight on Marci's Morsels...

Marci's Morsels sells toffee and cookies which are locally handmade with premium and organic ingredients, and can create gift boxes to fit your needs.  This year we will be expanding our product offering to include Gluten Free* and Vegan-Gluten Free* Baked Goods.  We've used a variety of alternative ingredients to ensure optimal texture without losing the to-die-for taste.  Some of these flours include: Almond Flour, Organic Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Garbanzo Bean Flour, and Teff Flour, just to name a few.  We are continuously experimenting with different recipes and are very excited to debut some of our new (but already much loved) items such as: Berry Medallions, Apricot Sand Dollars, Coconut Raspberry Bars, and much more! We are continuously experimenting with different recipes so please stop by throughout the season to see what new products we have to offer.

Now, you may find yourself asking, "The cookies were great, so why go gluten free"?  About 8 years ago, I discovered I had an intolerance for wheat.  Now that I have 2 children (Elizabeth, 3, and Joseph 10 months), I have a strong desire to find homemade baked goods which are wheat free and nutritious.  I try to use organic ingredients when available and economical.  What do I love best about these new recipes?  They not only are a great snack or treat...but are filled with nutritious and often protein packed ingredients, thus not to leave you feeling empty.

Who is Marci?  Marci is the name of the woman whom most of my, Anna's, cookie recipes and toffee recipe came from.  Marci is a truly wonderful woman that has touched my life in more ways than allowing me to use her family recipes.  Thus...the name of the Company is an appreciation for her kindness and thanks for who she is.

To my devoted cookie and toffee customers, have no fear, the toffee and cookies are still here!

The Phoenixville Market is more than a market place to me; it represents community, family, and has a way of bringing us back to our roots.  We at Marci's Morsels look forward to seeing you all at the market and my daughter looks forward to coaxing you to try some of our samples J

Recipe

Asparagus With Chardonnay Sabayon

a simple side dish for Mother's Day

Time: 30 minutes

Salt

24 fat spears, or more if they are thin, Willow Creek asparagus trimmed and bottom third peeled

7 tablespoons unsalted butter

2/3 cup Stargazer Vineyard Chardonnay

1 spring garlic stalk (Jack's Farm and Charlestown Farm), finely chopped

4 large Mountain View egg yolks

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Freshly ground white pepper.

1. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook asparagus until just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain well and pat dry.

2. In a small saucepan, melt butter. In another small saucepan, simmer wine with garlic until reduced by half, about 3 minutes; cool. In a stainless steel bowl, with a mixer at medium speed or by hand, whisk egg yolks with 1 tablespoon water and wine mixture until foamy. Set bowl over a saucepan of barely simmering water and continue whisking until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove bowl from heat and continue whisking to cool mixture slightly, about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in melted butter one tablespoon at a time, then lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Divide asparagus on 4 dinner plates. Spoon sabayon across asparagus. Pass remaining sabayon in a sauceboat.

Yield: 4 servings
