We have a lot of great food this week! Ridge Valley Farm, in Green Lane, will bring the first maple syrup of 2010 from freshly tapped trees! Also, this week we welcome a new baker to the market.  Saint Peter's Bakery will bring a selection of breads and pastries- what a perfect complement to the great cheeses that we have.Wild for Salmon is back and this could be their last time at the market until July or August, depending on how their supplies last.  If you have a freezer, you might want to stock up.  Also, Forks Farm will bring their grass-finished beef and lamb and other products from their farm by pre-order only.  Please email them for their list and order information.

Don't forget to read this email to see what is available, make your list, contact the farmers to place your orders, and then come to our regular location between 10 am and 11 am on Saturday to pick up your delicious, local food.  You might even see your neighbors and market friends.

Artisans Gallery & Café has entered into a series of partnerships with local suppliers and vendors to offer a variety of products which will benefit both the economy and support local and global charities. 

One Village Coffee has roasted a wide variety of sustainable & certified specialty coffees exclusively for Artisans Gallery & Café.  A percentage of the revenue generated from the purchase and roasting of these coffees will be used to support the following charitable initiatives;

- Work with coffee farmers in Nigeria to build 8 wells that will enable crop irrigation and supply clean drinking water for their communities.

- Assist The MAMA Project's 2008 Deworming Campaign in Honduras by providing vitamins and education in healthy living for 8 new children every day.

- Provide the means for 80 children to attend educational centers in Cairo, Egypt through our partnership with Stephen's Children.  These educational centers offer health programs, meals, and schooling for those living in the garbage dumps of Cairo.

Wild for Salmon is a local business that provides fresh/frozen wild Alaskan sockeye salmon at a common good price. Wild for Salmon is owned and operated by Steve and Jenn Kurian of Bloomsburg, PA.
  They catch the salmon  in Bristol Bay, Alaska, during the months of June and July and bring it back to Pennsylvania Pre-orders are highly recommended.

Quick and Easy Recipes

Mushrooms on Baguette Slices
Saute your favorite mushrooms and put them on top of thin baguette slices- yum!

Maple Roasted Root Vegetables

Chop your favorite root vegetables- carrots, parsnips, etc.  Dot with butter, drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle a little salt.  Roast at 350 until the vegetables are softand carmelized.  Great made with honey too.

Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs
Hard boil and peel some farm fresh eggs.  Slice them in half lengthwise and remove yolks.  Mash yolks with a fork and add mayonnaise, salt, pepper, dill, and mustard to taste.  Finely mince some smoked salmon and add to the yolk mixture.  Stiff the egg whites and serve.  These don't last long at our house.
