What's New....We are very excited to welcome John and Kira's gourmet, artisan chocolates from Philadelphia. Featured in Gourmet magazine and on Martha Stewart, their chocolates are made using local ingredients or ingredients from small family farms. This week John and Kira's will be bringing some whiskey ganache filled spanish figs as well
as chocolate ladybugs, salted caramel bees, and samples of their ten
signature flavors. Please visit their infomative website to read stories about the people that grow their ingredients, including Drew Elementary and UC High School students in Philadelphia that grow the mint for Project Mintpatch. www.johnandkiras.com
Also, at the market this Saturday, along with their usual summer abundance we may see the first plums from North Star Orchards!

The farmers and producers will be here with lots of delicious items for
holiday celebrations. We'll have local meats and portabello mushrooms
for the grill, cabbage for coleslaw,
lots of other vegetables, including new potatoes for potato salad (like the one in this week's recipe), and a limited selection of berries for holiday
desserts, not to mention delicious baked goods and cheese and coffee.
Joe Willson will play some patriotic favorites, and you can try your
hand at writing with a quill pen just as the signers of the Declaration
of Independence did.
We'll also have a raffle for $10 in market
dollars. All you have to do to enter is answer this question: (yes,
you can use the Internet to help) Name a signer of the Declaration of
Independence who was a farmer from Pennsylvania. By the way, this
person was the only signer whose sole occupation was a farmer, and he
hailed from Chester County!
