I first saw a large display for Starters in the Las Vegas airport and couldn't take my eyes off of the cover. If you think the image is creepy, wait until you read the book!
Lissa Price's Starters is a dystopian novel based a frightening concept: young teens renting their bodies for brief periods of time to senior citizens.
Cassie decides that the only way to get herself and her brother off of the streets and into a home is by renting her body for a brief time. But what happens when things go wrong, dreadfully wrong? This page-turner will keep readers in suspense to the last page. A completion volume, Enders will be released in December. Tell us about a creepy book that you have read, and you could win this signed copy of Starters and the accompanying swag.

Extraterrestrial Adventures | Garth Nix has created an captivating story of Prince Khemri, a young man in training to become the Emperor. Khemri learns that he is one of the ten million, that's right 10,000,000 princes who can ascend to the throne. Danger and treachery await him at every turn. Who can he trust? What must he learn? In addition to the thrilling action, readers who desire more than plot will not be disappointed. Intrigue, humor, and romance abound in this intergalactic saga that is sure to entice readers. But wait, there's more. An online game, Imperial Galaxy, is based on the book and it, too, should develop a "confusion" of loyal followers. Check out the book trailer, then get ready for this great stand- alone adventure!
For those who anxiously anticipate the return of our favorite young space heroine, the wait is almost over. Zita and her cohorts are back for for an incredible new adventure. A robot has assumed Zita's identity as the superhero. Our intrepid heroine must reestablish her own identity, while fighting off nefarious forces. The writing is even more engaging and clever (and you didn't think that was possible, did you?) and our plucky little heroine is so absolutely, positively delightful that readers of all ages will be drawn into the story. Take note: the story ends with a cliff hanger - so readers will have to wait for the next space girl adventure. Ben Hatke has added further luster to his Eisner nomination with this continuation of the series. Hurrah for Zita! |

New on Pinterest |
The April Pinterest update features Book-a-Palooza images. On April 3 at SCLS, librarians had fun exploring several different book-related activities. We tried writing Radical Reviews, In 6 Words, creating book dioramas with Peeps, stacking books to make Spine Poetry, and snapping some great BookFace images. Featured here is our Hero, YA librarian Andrew Bollerman.
