Brian Selznick has created a unique book experience that combines images and text in the perfect way for this story.  He seamlessly combines settings from the Museum of Natural History, understanding of the hearing-impaired, and historical fiction in one thrilling story.
Brian has written and/or illustrated such classics as The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins and The Houdini Box. His Caldecott-winning title The Invention of Hugo Cabret is now a motion picture, set for release this Thanksgiving.

Connetquot Teens
Connetquot teens

Friday night at Connetquot Public Library with Angela Breslin and her fabulous teens was lots of fun.
The evening began with a fun book contest, matching the first line of a book with the book jacket.
Then the teens got to work, planning activities for the winter.  In addition to suggestions from Angela, teens came up with several of their own ideas. Because the group represented various ages and interests, there will be something for everyone this winter in Connetquot!

Dancing with Sara Bedell
Sarah Bedell dancing Librarian/dancer Sarah Bedell recently read Bunheads by Sophie Black Bunheads cover and sent us this review:

Finally a book has been written about the other side of ballet! Meet Hannah Ward; a devoted and serious ballerina who dances for the Manhattan Ballet Company. After meeting a handsome musician named Jacob, Hannah suddenly feels trapped in endless rehearsals and exacting schedules. Although she wants to excel in the company and be promoted to Soloist, she yearns for the freedoms of everyday life.
This is a must-read for dancers everywhere!
