WBLI Beginning on September 19, SCLS is partnering with Friendly's and WBLI to Spotlight Homework Help . The campaign consists of six weeks of WBLI radio ads and features a Word of the Day contest that enters participants into a weekly drawing for a $50 Friendly's gift certificate.WBLI and Friendly's
Friendly's logo September 26 is Homework Help Day, similar to last year's Live-brary.com launch. SCLS will make promotional materials available to those who would like them and will arrange staff training on Homework Help. What a great way to start the new school year!

Battle: It's ON
Battle of the Books 2010 It's almost here and we are so excited. 
Join thirty-seven Suffolk libraries for a day filled with crazy costumes, book trivia, and FUN. Last year's winning team was Babylon Public Library.
Who will win the bragging rights this year?  Come to Javits Lecture Center on the Campus of Stony Brook University on Saturday, August 13, and find out.
Be sure to check out our Battle of the Books Scavenger Hunt. It's another way to join in the fun and win some prizes.

 

The Future is at Amityville
Amityville Summer Reading Amityville Public Library's  Linda Ferraro opted for a futurist theme this summer. The large space has some unique decorating challenges and Linda has solved them creatively.
A teen-created mural as well as movie posters hang over the open area. The most striking features are Linda's mannequins.  A few years ago she purchased two surplus figures and  each year dresses them to reflect the summer theme.  You can view the mannequins and other great Amityville decor on our Facebook page.
