Wanna Experience a Great Book?
|
Into the Unknown by Stewart Ross and Stepen Biesty is an experience! With incredible flaps and fold-outs, readers will experience the many ways explorers have ventured into the unknown. The cutaways and cross sections describe explorations beginning with the Ancient Greeks and concluding with the lunar landing of Apollo 11. This book is an exploration in itself. Here's a user experience with total engagement: it's the REAL DEAL. Don't take my word it, request a review copy from SCLS.

Wonderstruck!
|
Brian Selznick's Wonderstruck tells two stories, one in images and one in text. The use of images to tell the story of Rose, who is deaf, is a tour d force, tenderly capturing the world of those who cannot hear. Ben's story begins in prose, but as the story progresses, the communication becomes intertwined The book is brilliant and far surpasses The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Now, here's the treat: I was able to score a copy at BEA and would LOVE to share it with you. Send a message to me on Facebook or via email and I will be happy to share this incredible book with you.

The Epic Conclusion
|
 | Harry Potter: The Exhibition |
This is the last stop on the North American tour of the Harry Potter Exhibition. The show has obviously been "tweaked" from the Chicago opening exhibit. Harry Potter fans will revel in all the fascinating details. Be sure to go with someone who can guide you through all the cool stuff and the back story of many items.
I felt so small when I sat in Hagrid's chair. With rear cushion supporting my back, my ankles barely dangled over the seat!

I have just returned from the dubbing studio where I spoke into a microphone as Severus Snape for absolutely the last time. On the screen were some flashback shots of Daniel, Emma, and Rupert from ten years ago. They were 12. I have also recently returned from New York, and while I was there, I saw Daniel singing and dancing (brilliantly) on Broadway. A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes.
Three children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing one small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time, she held the entire massive but delicate narrative in the surest of hands.
It is an ancient need to be told stories. But the story needs a great storyteller. Thanks for all of it, Jo.
