Dear Friends -

I've found that parenting can be one of the toughest, but most rewarding jobs.  I've recently realized that my children need rules - not reasons.  They need to know when they can or cannot do something as opposed to why they should or shouldn't do it; that there are consequences if they break the rules, and that there are rewards, via their sticker charts, if they follow the rules.

So what financial rules have you broken that have landed you in a 'timeout'?  Have you continually ignored the rules and suffered stress and scarcity; the inevitable consequences of your behavior? Conversely, what financial habits/rules have you followed that have brought you the rewards of financial abundance, peace and success?  When you have good habits/rules; you don't need to invest so much time and energy on them.  You simply practice the habits and follow the rules consistently, freeing up your time and energy to concentrate on other areas of your life where, perhaps, you aren't quite as disciplined.

On our journey to abundance, let us consider the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin who said, "Your net worth to the world is usually determined by what remains after your bad habits are subtracted from your good ones."  Grow your net worth and assets on your spiritual balance sheet one good habit at a time.

I'd love to hear about your successful financial habits/rules that have worked for you so that I can add them to my tool box to share as a financial coach.  Email me your ideas at deb@cpajones.com .
Blessings of Abundance,
 Debbie

#1 - What to do about credit card debt?

First - stop creating more debt!

Although this seems rather simplistic, there are those who talk about getting out of debt yet continue to create more debt on a daily basis. Start using cash! Put your credit cards away or, if the temptation to use them is too great, cut them up and throw them away. Stop charging! Delay your purchases until you have the money. Make the d ecision today!

Second - create an emergency fund.

You need a way to pay for emergencies as they arise. Without an emergency fund, you may need to go back to using credit again in order to save yourself.  Create an emergency fund even if you owe money on your credit cards. Don't allow the credit card companies to put you on a merry-go-round that you can't get off.

Third - seek out options.
There are so many options regarding your unsecured credit card debt that I couldn't even begin to do justice to that topic here. Entire books are dedicated to solving your credit card debt.  My recommendation is to find a professional to help you; either through a book if you are the hands-on, self- help type, or I can help with my new, one month intensive financial planning solutions package.  See below

#2 - Think outside of the box?

You can solve any financial problem by thinking outside of  the box - here are some ideas:
  • Brainstorm for a solution to your financial dilemma.
  • Talk with someone who is financially successful.
  • As Stephen Covey advises in, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, "begin with the end in mind."
  • Practice yoga/mediation/prayer.
  • Lastly, if you need a push in the right direction to a "Financial Solution ...to create abundance";  here is a great opportunity that may or may not be for you. You can download a FREE meditation for manifesting ABUNDANCE and PROSPERITY from Karen Paolino, when you sign up for her free email newsletter on her website, http://www.createheaven.com/ .  I have used this mediation and I love it.
