I'm in Argentina right now. Feeling more than a bit spacey due either to the fantastic Andean air or the 20 some hour travel to get here.
I'm entranced already and looking forward to some fantastic wines including the ones I tasted to today at Finca Decero (a beautiful winery by the way) with a small selection from neighboring Lujan de Cuyo producers Ruca Malen and ReNancer

The days look busy ahead, so I will have lots to report in upcoming pieces.
But for now sleep seems to be murmuring my name...

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter - TheWineDiva for updates on events, travels, tasting notes and a few cheeky subtitles...

Cheers,

 Yarra Valley

Koala Nearly two weeks after first setting my foot down on Aussie soil I flew into the city of Melbourne in the southeastern state of Victoria. The day I arrived in Australia was also the day the fires in Victoria started making headlines around the globe with their speed and devastation. In fact as I traveled across Australia I followed news that grew increasingly horrifying. I spoke to Wines of Australia to see if my final destination of Yarra Valley, would even happen, or was I to be diverted to another region altogether? Did my scheduled visits have the wherewithal to see me? As it turned out, everyone I was scheduled to see responded back with a resounding yes...

That day was difficult for me, to arrive into ashen turmoil and to witness the inhabitants taut emotions. When everyone was a little weary of the fires and a little leery of visiting journalists seeing only the smoke and ashes and in essence tarring the region and the vintage, black....

A nod to where I am sitting now
Dona Paula Estate Chardonnay, Mendoza Argentina, 2008

Dona Paula reserve chard

This golden-hued Chardonnay with a core of toast and spice softened by creamy pear, melon, citrus and minerality. It has a fantastic weight on the palate with a creamy texture and flavours of citrus, toasted spices, pineapple and melon with hazelnut flavours lingering. The finish is snappy and fresh.

 BC Pinot Noir
Therapy Vineyards Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008

Therapy Pinot

An impressive showing from this young Pinot Noir from Naramata Bench's Therapy Vineyards. It's ruby purple in colour with gobs of pretty violet aromas, cherry and raspberry and sweet vanilla with a core of forest floor, herbs and cedar chips. It is quite full-bodied for a Pinot with bright acidity, red fruit, spice and leather flavours. It's smooth, then fine tannins and peppery hints round out the palate.

$26 +

 "My Favourite Wines"
 A super-cool new Facebook application

facebook button

We have built a new application for all you Facebook users, suitably called called "My Favourite Wines".

And it's so easy to use.
Each one of my wine reviews (on WineDiva.ca and WineScores.ca) has a Facebook button attached. Every time you see a wine you like it, click on the Facebook button (like the one above) and it will lead you through to a Facebook sign-in page. Sign in as you usually would and follow the prompts. You can post that wine (along with its bottle shot) to your wall, write your own review, tell your friends, and build your own cellar page with all of your "My Favourite Wines".
Now, when your friends come over they can simply look at your "My Favourite Wines" page and know what wine to bring!
Give it a try!
