 Primum Familiae Vini
and a selection of Pinot Noir...

Spring arrives today with Easter close on its heels. But we are still in seasonal transition time, impatient for warmer temps and lighter spring clothing. And, despite the current cool, damp days the buds are bursting, my tulips seem to be quite happy and I'm already craving lighter wines.
So, I have linked you to a lovely selection of Pinot Noirs on WineDiva - at various price points - helping you make that gentle leap from full to medium-bodied wines. Because before you know it the shelves will be coming up roses.

On WineScores I have linked my newest article on the PFV (Primum Familiae Vini), a very important group of "Wine Royalty" (names like: Antinori, Mouton Rothschild, Perrin, Vega~Sicilia, Tenuta San Guido...) whose mandate is to promote family business and to share ideas. They arrived in Vancouver last week, with their extraordinary wines.

 Primum Familiae Vini
 the first families of wine

PFV logo Each year an elite group of "wine royalty" converges on a different city in the world. This elite group consists of the planet's premium wine families.
The Primum Familiae Vini (the first families of wine) produce internationally recognized wines known to represent tradition and history in the world of wine.
It's a wine weenie's dream team.

On March 10, eleven family members of the PFV chose Vancouver....
And they brought wine.

Grapes in your wine - and grapes in your apples?

Grapples

On a recent trip to the Granville Island Market for produce, I was lured by the potent aroma of grape juice. Oddly enough, it was not coming from the exotic fruit stand but from the apples. Imagine my surprise when my nose led me to these handy little "4 count" plastic containers filled with perfect apples. But then I took a closer look at the label. If you can read it you'll notice the ingredients: Apples, Natural and Artificial Grape Flavour. Called the Grapple (grape-L) the website claims the grown (and Grappled) in Washington apples are produced in a complex process using FDA approved ingredients. And although the site has a "how they are made" page it doesn't explain much - but it does say something about "bathing" the apples.
When it comes to fruit, I'm an apple fiend but I don't think I'll be taking a bite out of this fad anytime soon.
I'd rather leave the grapes for my glass.
