Suggesting that any one wine is perfect for your Valentine is like suggesting that potato chips should only be made in ketchup flavour - hmmmm, ketchup.
Romance comes from within, so wine in any form is simply icing on the cupcake.
Bubbles are classic for inducing romance and Pinot is seductive, luscious wines are...luscious and sweet & spicy wines - well you figure it out.
So here's a selection of 20 (from $10- $60) that I find completely biteable!

Gray Monk Odyssey Sparkling, Okanagan BC, 2003

Gray Monk Odyssey A golden-hued, traditional method sparkling wine with rich toasty/leesy aromas, wild honey, apples and obvious mineral notes. Creamy and full-bodied on the palate with ample mousse, stone fruit flavours and lemon zest lingering on the palate.
A wonderful example of BC bubbly made from Chardonnay and Riesling!

Who's coming to Vancouver Playhouse Wine Festival?
Savardo Pinot Nero Superiore, Breganze Italy, 2005

Savardo PN If Pinot Noir is the grape for romance, what could possibly be more romantic than a Pinot Noir from Italy?
The Savardo Pinot Nero will impress you with its flavour and guests with your originality. We don't see many Pinot Noirs from Italy so enjoy the sweet red cherry and raspberry aromas with violets and mixed dried flowers, leather and woodsy cedar notes. Good intensity on the palate - fresh and earthy with sweet smooth fruit, balanced acidity, toasted spice and peppery hints with a not unpleasant sour finish.
Pair with a nice creamy Tallegio cheese.

The 2005 vintage will be available to preview during the VPIWF!

Cheese -Chèvre des Neiges Triple Cream Brie
A creamy smooth option packaged for romance

Chevre Brie 300h What is it about Valentine's that makes small, individually wrapped items so appealing?
Hershey's Kisses, small velvet boxes, half bottles of pink Champagne and of course - creamy cheese.
This widely available Quebec-made triple cream goats milk brie from Alexis de Portneuf is a fist- full of creamy love. Brie can be boring, but goats milk gives an extra kick of flavour and being triple cream makes the texture less rubbery and much more seductive. It has a sweet, creamy buttery flavour with less of the typical mushroom notes cows milk brie has but maintains elements of earth and grassiness.
A perfect darling addition for your dinner duo.

approx.$6.95 160g individually wrapped
Stink Factor: Low
