 Mark West Pinot Noir, 2005

Mark West PN This well choreographed bottle of wine is so user friendly it smacks of a "duh" moment. Translation; one name--Mark West, one varietal--Pinot Noir. Trust that when you see a bottle of Mark West it will have the heartbreak grape (aka Pinot Noir) juice inside.
Its dense and velvety with dark berries, chocolate, cedar and vanilla notes. On the palate Mark shows juicy dark fruit, coffee, earthy/woodsy hints and spiced tobacco on the finish. Its a smooth and appealing Pinot--so easy to drink you'll swear there's a hole in the bottom of your glass.

 Trivento Amado Sur Malbec, 2005

Trivento Amado Sur Malbec What a handsome package! The simplicity of black, white and red makes this bottle look far more posh than the price.
Rich, with dark cherries and spiced berry aromas and vanilla notes. Smooth and lush on the palate with spiced plums, meaty hints, earth, cocoa and peppery flavours. 70% Malbec, 18% Bonarda, 12% Syrah.
Its intensity will pair well with meaty dishes.

     NEW BC!
     Inniskillin Marsanne Rousanne,Okanagan BC, 2006

Inniskillin Marsanne Rousanne Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Okay, the good news is this, when you review wine all the time you look for the "wow" wines. Somthing new, interesting and delish, like this one. Marsanne & Rousanne are classic to the Rhone and South of France where they produce powerful, baked fruit, floral and minerally wines that age extremely well. But the Inniskillin version impresses me with its freshness and delicateness.
The bad news is the very, very limited 78 cases available at the winery only--sigh.
Alas, sweet spiced pear and honeysuckle aromas with a backbone of smoke and minerality. Crisp on the entry with fresh quince, lush citrus and cinnamon spice, softly rounded on the mid-palate and lingering on the finish with smoke, vanilla and zest.
    Bravo!
