Easily, the single most common question I am asked
is "What is your favorite wine"?
Not fair.
If you asked me what type of wine I would chose if I
were stranded on a deserted island I would assume
you meant a paradise of sorts, with white sand,
coconuts, palm trees and an unmatchable azure blue
sea surrounding me.
In that case it would be a wine to cool me off, I'd be
happy to not be rescued...
..."Cerasuolo" means cherry red in Italian, a suitable
term for this earthy and surprisingly intense rosé.
Aromas are evocative of the forest-forest berries and
forest floor, roots and rhubarb. Flavours are assertive
and spiced showing tobacco, zippy red fruit and citrus
rind. This wine is medium-bodied with bright acidity
and a hint of tannin on the finish which makes it
perfect for meatier dishes; cured sausage, barbecue
or hard cheeses.
Classic White Zinfandel style wine blended with some
Grenache and Mourvedre, the Pink Truck is as fun as
its pink label. But it is best if you have a sweet
tooth because if you do this wine will certainly service
that tooth!
The cheeky colour of pink berry juice it boasts candied
strawberry, blossoms, exotic spices and a hint of
fresh earth. On the palate it has juicy, sweet fruit-y
flavours, dried citrus rind with a touch of tobacco on
the finish.
Who says pinks don't have more fun?
I love seeing those pink stars appearing on the wines
I have reviewed. Since you (the readers) are the
ones tasting the wines, you should have your input
too.
The average score will always appear and as soon as
you score the wine the results are tallied!

Marques de Gelida Brut Exclusive Cava, Spain 2002
A wonderful vintage Cava-fragrant with citrus blossom,
apple, lime and leesy aromas. On the palate it is fresh
and vivacious with a creamy texture and a hint of
toastiness on the finish. As is typical in Spain, where
they age their wines longer than many other regions
this 2002 has been aged more than three years
before release.
I'd say that's a bargain for under $23.00!
I prefer to test drive a new restaurant for lunch.
It gives me a sneak peek with a more reasonable
price tag and there's no hiding beneath sexy lighting.
We all know that we look better in candlelight after all...
