 It's official, summer has arrived...
Inside

Join our mailing list!

At least according to my calendar it has arrived.
Forget that according to meteorologists this was the 14th soggiest spring in Vancouver in the past sixty years and that Environment Canada predicts showers for the next five days...
But we here on the wet-lotusland-coast forget quickly once we wring the water out of our locks and our socks and the sun does finally come out.
I've decided that summer has arrived-even if it is all in my mind...

 Celebrating Gray Monk

Gray Monk bottles It's another great year to celebrate the wines of British Columbia.
In May Calona Vineyards celebrated 75 years of making wine with a celebration in Kelowna, Cedar Creek is toasting 20 years and the Heiss family at Gray Monk recently celebrated 25 years of making wine; 35 years of growing grapes; and 45 years of marriage for George and Trudy-all grand milestones.
Especially as there were only seven other wineries in the Okanagan when they began in 1982!
Gray Monk is a true family run winery...

Domaine De L'Olivette Coteaux de Cabrerisse Blanc,France, 2006

Domaine de L'Olivette This organic white blend from the Vin de Pays may be hard to pronounce but it certainly isn't hard to drink!
Intriguing aromas of wild honey and beeswax, peach blossoms and a hint of almond oil. Oily, almost buttery on the palate, softly rounded with spiced citrus rind and mineral flavours. Has enough body and weight to stand up to denser white fish and white meat dishes but also nice with cheese and starters.
Made from certified organic Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and Marsanne grapes.

 How Cheesy-A Trio
 Morbier Fermier

Morbier Fermier A semi-soft cows milk cheese from Jura France highly recognizable by the vein of ash that winds through the middle of the cheese. This ash line in the Morbier Fermier is said to divide the morning milk (bottom half) from the evening milk (top half). I tried to taste them separately but it seemed like a lot of work when I could enjoy it all at once.
It's creamy white in colour and comes in medium sized wheels which means your slices will be long and narrow . It has a creamy, buttery texture with grassy, herbal and sweetish fruity flavour.
$3.50 per 100gr
