If you are in love, Valentine's Day is
Romantic.
Expensive, chocolaty and kinda kitschy but romantic
nonetheless. If you aren't in love, or
he's "just not that into you", it's annoying,
omnipresent and it sucks. And if you don't want
to catch to love bug, don't drink the water...
Imagine the juiciest, crispest green apple add some
peach blossom aromas and just a pinch of minerals.
The Vespaiolo (one of my favorite sippers) is lively,
clean and zippy fresh with a purely white grapefruit
finish. I suggest you pick up two, one bottle to
share with your favorite Valentine and one for
yourself! Wine Diva tasted - January 31st, 2007
Aromas are of ripe almost sweet fruit and flowers.
Dry and delicate in the mouth, a dance of orchard
fruit, earth and the slightly bitter citrus-y finish so
commonly found in prosecco. Wine Diva tasted - June 20th, 2006 Had this Wine? Rate

La Vieille Ferme, Cotes du Ventoux Rose, France 2005
Just released (January '07), this recognizable rose
from the capable hands of the Perrin Family in Rhone
now comes screw-capped!
Oh joy, oh bliss.
Chill for 15 and then with a mere flick of the wrist
this fresh beauty is filling your glass.
And fresh she is, with her brilliant ruby hue and
smelling like a sun warmed strawberry field. Layered
with sweet spices, tobacco, citrus zest and pristine
minerals the Vieille Ferme is clean, crisp and
refreshing. Perfect for sipping or simple bistro fare.

How Cheesy
Clawson Creamy White Stilton with Cranberries
I know, I know. All you real cheese
heads out there will pooh-pooh my choice of
cheesy
romantic cheese.
But just look at it. Clawson Creamy White Stilton
with Cranberries-Wrapped in a glorious red wax case,
a perfect heart sized drum for two and a creamy-ish
interior crammed full of cranberries
(antioxidents+health equal good luvin').

Drunken Cookies?
In my last newsletter January 25th I wrote about the
new Artisan Sake Boutique that opened up on
Granville Island in Vancouver.
Well last week owner and sake maker Masa Shiroki
called to say that they are now selling Biscotti made
from his sake lees (lees is basically the coarse
sediment that accumulates during fermentation,
wines and sake left on the lees gather more flavour
and unless filtered, remain cloudy).
So can eating a couple of these alcohol imbued lees
in making biscotti make you drunk?
Probably not but its an interesting snack.
For west coast locals, these recognizable individually
wrapped pink gingham chocolates are as nostalgic as
their olde-time shops.
Rogers' Chocolate's do Victorian/Canadiana well-a
draw for tourists looking for their famous Rogers'
Victoria Creams.
For Valentine's I think about juicy flavours and pretty
colour combinations, just like this thin dark chocolate
shell covering sweet blueberry cream with whole
chunks of blueberry. The aroma is outstanding-pure
blueberry.
Wine Diva on Whiskey
Bruichladdich-the largest women's only whisky tasting in Canada?
I feel I have failed as a Scot (or at least the more-
Scot-than-not side of me has failed).
Not much for oatmeal, don't even start me on Haggis
and kilts look horrendous on me.
To make matters worse I've been told that
everything that comes naturally to me, everything
that comes naturally to my inner Wine Diva is wrong.
