Welcome 2011 - The year of the Rabbit

2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, according to the Chinese Zodiac. The Chinese New Year begins on Thursday, February 3rd and will continue through Sunday, January 22, 2012.

The Rabbit is the fourth sign of the Chinese Zodiac , which consists of 12 animal signs.  The Rabbit is noted as a lucky sign.  It is said those born in the year of the Rabbit are friendly individuals who enjoy the company of a group of good friends. They are also good teachers, counselors and communicators.

According to Chinese tradition, the Rabbit brings a year where we can catch our breath and calm our nerves.  It is also a time for negotiation, as long as you don't try to force issues, because if you do, you will ultimately fail.  During this year, make it a goal to create a safe, peaceful lifestyle for yourself, so you will be able to calmly deal with any problem which may arise.

To gain the greatest benefits from this year, focus on home, family, security, diplomacy and your relationships with women and children.

One little known fact about the Rabbit, is that the Rabbit is the symbol of the Moon, while its counterpart is the Peacock, the symbol of the Sun. Together, these two animal signs signify the start of day and night, or the Yin and Yang of life.  During this year, anyone making requests for wishes to be fulfilled are certain to get what they want as the wish-granting aspect of the Sun and the Moon combined is multiplied.

At Cascade Acupuncture Center wish for you the very best during this Year of the Rabbit!

Feature

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is one of the most pervasive diseases in the United States and is the leading cause of disability. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention one out of every three Americans (an estimated 70 million people) are affected.

Arthritis isn't just a disease. It's a complex disorder that can affect people at any stage of life. Two of the most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. It begins with the breakdown of joint cartilage, resulting in pain and stiffness. It commonly affects the joints of the fingers, knees, hips, and spine. Other joints affected may include the wrists, elbows, shoulders, and ankles. Work-related repetitive injury and physical trauma may contribute to the development of this form of arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis can affect many different joints by an inflammation of the joints lining, which causes pain, stiffness, swelling, warmth, and redness. This form of arthritis can be a disease of active symptoms and remissions.

How Can Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Help?

According to Chinese medical theory, arthritis arises when the cyclical flow of Qi in the meridians becomes blocked. This blockage is called, "bi" type pain and can be successfully treated using a combination of Acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine have been found to be extremely effective at treating the pain and inflammation associated with all types of arthritis. The Acupuncture points and herbs used for the treatment is dependent on where the blockage of Qi (arthritis) is located in order to restore the imbalances found in an individual's body.

Call for an appointment today to have one of our Acupuncturists examine you, take a look at the onset of your condition and learn your signs and symptoms to determine your Chinese diagnosis and to help you choose the appropriate acupuncture points and treatment plan.
