Reduce your risk for heart disease with Traditional Chinese Medicine

It is a well known fact that people with high cholesterol are at risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers those who do not want to, or who cannot, tolerate the side-effects associated with the use of pharmaceuticals a natural way to lower their cholesterol levels through the use of regular Acupuncture treatments and herbal supplements. Combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, you will find TCM an excellent partner as you start your journey to better health.  For additional information on how TMC can help you reduce your high cholesterol levels, please read our article below.

Electro-Acupuncture
We are expanding our services to offer Electro Acupuncture treatment for certain conditions.

This involves using very small clips which we will connect to two needles on the same arm or leg. We will hook these clips with leads to an Electro Acupuncture stimulator, which is a small box with a 9 V battery, producing a microcurrent. This usually feels like slightly tingly, not painful at all. It increases the release of endorphins amongst other health benefits. Your Acupuncturist will offer this to you as part of your treatments if they deem it as beneficial for your condition.

"Know your levels - know your risk - give yourself some TLC! (Therapeutic Lifestyle Care)"

65 million American adults have high cholesterol and are at risk for heart disease. Do you know your cholesterol levels?

Have you already been diagnosed with high cholesterol, and would you like to try a natural way to lower it?

Our clients are having great success using Cholisma from Evergreen Herbs to lower their cholesterol levels; and as an added benefit, it also assists in lowering blood pressure and weight loss if needed!

Ask for a detailed handout in our clinics with case studies on the usage of Cholisma for more information

Cholisma's clinical applications are for high cholesterol levels, high triglycerides levels, and hypertension with arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis.

Western therapeutic actions report an antihyperlipidemic effect to reduce plasma levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, reduces absorption of fatty food and enhances breakdown of fatty tissues, lowers serum glucose level and reduces synthesis of cholesterol and triglycerides, plus has a diuretic effect to reduce blood pressure.
AcupunctureAcupuncture and herbal medicine are viable options used to address high cholesterol

Acupuncture can be used to treat many of the health conditions that are known to drastically increase the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol.

A few of the risk factors that can be addressed with Acupuncture;
     * High Blood Pressure
     * Excess weight
     * Diabetes

Herbal Medicine
- Several Chinese Herbs and herbal formulas can be used to lower cholesterol levels. Many of our clients are having great success using Cholisma, from Evergreen Herbs, to lower their cholesterol levels. As an added benefit, Cholisma also assists in lowering blood pressure and weight loss if needed.

For overall health, be sure to:

Maintain a healthy weight.
Excess weight tends to increase your LDL level. Also, it typically raises triglycerides, a fatty substance in the blood, and lowers HDL. Losing the extra pounds helps put your body back in balance. This month we are offering our 5 Secrets to Permanent Weight Loss Workshop for those who are ready to address the weight loss battle, which so many of us are challenged with today.

Incorporate more fiber-rich foods into your diet to help lower cholesterol levels. Foods such as oatmeal, fruits, leafy green vegetables, beans and lentils all contain high levels of fiber, which assists in lowering the "bad" cholesterol in your blood called LDL.  In addition, something as simple as spicing up your cooking with garlic can help. An increase of garlic in the diet can have a positive effect on cholesterol in people.

Reduce Tension
in your body and mind. Reducing tension and stress is an effective method for lowering cholesterol.  As people reduced their stress levels, many report a reduction in their cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Physical activity is an important part of overall health. Being physically inactive contributes to being overweight. Regular physical activity can raise HDL and lower triglycerides, help you lose weight and lower your LDL.

September is National Cholesterol Education Month
and a great time to take charge of your heart health.
If you are ready to take charge of your heart health and want to explore ways to lower your cholesterol, naturally, call us today to set an appointment with one of our Acupuncturists.  We can help you develop a plan to achieve and maintain your new health goals.
