Reaching Heights
Our Mission

At Reaching Heights, we mobilize community resources to foster highly valued public schools that provide all Cleveland Heights-University Heights students a successful education.

Greetings!

Much change is in the works in our school district, including a comprehensive plan to update the facilities our children learn in, and substantial changes in the instructional model for elementary students identifed as gifted. Two upcoming school board meetings will shed light on some these changes and I encourage you to attend if you can. On July 5, the board will receive recommendations from the School Facilities Committee (details here) on how to proceed with a comprehensive plan to bring our district's school facilities in line with our needs, consistent with our resources. There will also be a work session on July 19 at which a plan to overhaul gifted instruction in our elementary schools (details here) will be presented. Both meetings start at 7 PM at the Board offices at 2155 Miramar Blvd. Meetings are sometimes moved next door to Wiley Middle School to accommodate more people, so check the district website to confirm the location.

Stay well.

Music Camp Finale Concert June 25 at Wiley

2011 Heights Summer Music CampJoin us Saturday, June 25 at 10:30 AM in the Wiley Middle School auditorium for the Finale Concert culminating the 7th Annual Heights Summer Music Camp. This year, we have 90 talented musicians from across our community spending a fun and enriching week immersed in the magic of music. Nearly one-third of our campers received scholarships to help make it possible to attend. This helps achieve one of our goals, to expand access to music instruction to all students who seek it. Video of last year's concert and much more are available on the Reaching Heights YouTube channel.

came together in chorus and orchestral unity and performed for one magical night at Severance Hall. The Reaching Musical Heights concert was a beautiful example of the rich amount of talent we have in both teachers and students alike. This celebration of musical excellence was met with thunderous applause and our children shined under the lights of the majestic hall and proud parental gazes. The DVDs are $10 each and are a great way to relive or share the wonders of that evening. Click here to order the DVD online, or you can mail your request and payment directly to the office.

There's Still Time to Thank a Teacher!

Even in the summer, you can send a personalized note of gratitude to your favorite teacher. We know how wonderful our teachers are, so offering a note of appreciation is easy and goes a long way to encourgae them especially as the year comes to a close. Take a moment, brighten a teacher's summer day. Proceeds help support our School Team Grants program that promotes innovation and collaboration in our schools. Here's the link to our online Thank-A-Teacher form.
