Sharing our Passion for Excellent Public Education

Greetings!

Tomorrow evening, April 21, you can be part of an annual rite of Spring, the Reaching Heights Adult Community Spelling Bee,Patrick Mullenwhich starts at 7pm in the Heights High auditorium. Twenty-three teams will vie for the coveted Big Plastic Bee Trophy. Our defending champions, the Know Knothings representing Heights High Parent Connection Council, will be without have to bring a speller off the bench, as one of last year's spellers cools her heels in Europe, her flight home cancelled by a cloud of volcanic ash. I'm reasonably sure this is a first for the Bee.

The Bee supports our School Team Grant program,Joy Henderonwhich funds collaboration and innovation in our schools. Admission is free, and we're raffling off a slew of great items. And the Bee itself is a blast, as you compare each team's efforts with the correct spelling projected on a screen for the audience. So come on out and watch our 19th annual spelling spectacular. And visit reachingheights.org to learn more about the innovative programs the Bee has made possible for two decades.

One more reminder: be sure to pick up a copy of the May Heights Observer. Along with all the other great coverage of our community, you'll find a four-page edition of School News from Reaching Heights, packed with stories of teaching and learning in the Heights schools. The issue hits the streets on May 4.

See you at the Bee!
