News from Reaching Heights Sharing our Passion for Excellent Public Education |
|
Greetings!
When I got my first pair of glasses in fifth grade, I was amazed at how much more I could see, like the chalkboard. Next Tuesday at the Cleveland Red Cross on Euclid Ave., free eye screenings and eyeglasses will be available through the OneSight program to children who need them, as detailed below. Please pass word of this opportunity to anyone you think might benefit.
According to a story in the Heights Observer, CH-UH Assistant Superintendent Christine Fowler-Mack has accepted a job as Senior Executive Director for New and Innovative Schools with the Cleveland Municipal School District. Thank you, Christine, for all you've done on behalf of educational excellence here, and may you enjoy every success in your new position.
Here at Reaching Heights, we're about to announce $8,000 in grants to teachers, and will soon award $7,000 in private music lesson scholarships to more than 30 aspiring musicians in our schools. These programs only exist only because of your generous support, for which I thank you.
Our 2009 Annual Fund request will reach your mailbox next week, and our goal is to raise at least $32,000. Any amount you can give will help, and if you just can't wait for our letter or don't get one, you can always give online.
In the meantime, enjoy these magnificent fall days while they last, with or without corrective lenses. Patrick Mullen Executive Director
