Swim Cadets Dance the Night Away March 5-7
03/05/09The Cleveland Heights High School Swim Cadets will present this year's show, "Swim Cadets Dance the Night Away," on March 5, 6 and 7th at 7:30 p.m. in the school's pool (13263 Cedar Road). Tickets are $6.00. The Swim Cadets club has been in existence at Heights High for more than 60 years and is the Cleveland area's oldest synchronized swimming club. Students are responsible for selecting their members, raising funds to operate, developing their own routines, and putting on a show that is unequalled in Northeast Ohio. This year, the Swim Cadets includes 21 members from all grades and Small Schools at Heights High. The team selected the music, theme, choreographed each selection, raised funds for and practiced for more than five months for the show. This organization is another example of the excellence that is part of Cleveland Heights High School.

RoxArts Benefit, March 6
Heights HighRoxArts, the Roxboro Enrichment Art Program, holds its annual benefit auction March 6 at 7PM at Heights Rockefeller Building, corner of Lee and Mayfield. The evening's theme is Don't Worry, Be Happy with food and music from Jamaica. The Adult Auction and Benefit will feature a buffet dinner, drinks, music, a silent and live auction. Auctionitems include a Viktor Schreckengost signed Centennial Edition of the New Yorker Plate, tickets to museums, sporting events and vacations. Tickets are $25/person or a package of 6 for $125.
 
RoxArts is a nonprofit that brings additional art education to Roxboro Elementary and Middle Schools. Each school receives approximately $8,500 a year. To reserve a ticket, call Toni Heller at 216-421-8229.
Family Fun Evening, March 7
Heights HighEnjoy family fun for kids on Saturday, March 7, 6-8 p.m., at the Cleveland Heights Community Center. Get out of the house for a fun evening of kid friendly games, entertainment, food, live DJ, and balloons. For more information, call the Community Center at 216-691-7373.
Middle School Honors Concert March 9
Heights HighThe public is invited to the 6th Annual Middle School Honors Concert, March 9, 2009, 7:00 PM, at Wiley Middle School. Admission is $3.00 for adults, free for students. The concert features performances by the 2009 Honor Band and Honor Orchestra composed of middle schools students from Monticello, Roxboro, and Wiley Middle Schools. Reaching Heights is proud to sponsor this event.
 
Heights High College Fair, March 12
Heights HighIt's never too early to start planning for post secondary education at the Heights High Northeast Suburban College Fair on Thursday, March 12, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to meet guidance staff, college admissions officers, and alumni representatives from over 140 colleges, universities, and technical schools at the fair. Kindergarten Information Night, March 19

Cleveland Heights State of the City, March 19
Heights HighOn Thursday, March 19, The Honorable Ed Kelley, Mayor of Cleveland Heights, will give his annual State of the City Address at 7:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Blvd. (corner of Monticello and Mayfield roads), Cleveland Heights. Have a particular issue that you would like to hear addressed or have a question for the mayor? Heights Lacrosse Spring Mulch Sale, until April 8
Heights HighHelp support the Heights Lacrosse Program with our Spring Mulch Sale. Premium dark hardwood mulch (that does not contain cocoa mulch) is available for $6.00 per 2 cubic ft. bag - 10 bag delivery minimum. Heights Lacrosse has boy's and girl's teams and programs for all students in the Cleveland Hts.-University Hts. area for ages 10 through high school. Mulch will be delivered to your house by early May. Ten  bags will cover an area 80 square feet to depth of three inches. Donations are greatly appreciated if you do not need mulch. World Premiere of HOPERA: Chronicles of a Fallen Hero, April 2 & 3
Heights HighHoperaworld is proud to announce the world premiere of HOPERA: Chronicles of a Fallen Hero, April 2-3 at the Dina Reeves Performing Arts Center at Cleveland Heights High School. Chronicles of a Fallen Hero is a full length production with original music by Cleveland native and Heights graduate, Adrian Dunn. It follows the life of Obadiah King, a young African American Chicagoan and his internal struggles with family, loss, race and environment. Blending classical and popular vocals, dancers and hip hop artists (spoken word, rappers) this performance presents Obadiah's struggles, emotional angst and victory in beating the odds. The music fuses elements of the Grand Opera and the Bel Canto style. HoperaWorld is a production company focused around exploring the musical fusion of hip hop and opera ("Hopera," a term coined by Founder, Adrian Dunn), presenting professional performances of the highest artistic quality. 18th Reaching Heights Spelling Bee, April 23

Home Refinancing Fitness, May 5
Heights HighHome Repair Resource Center will hold a workshop, Avoiding Delinquency, Understanding Refinancing, May 5 from 6-8PM at its office, 2520 Noble Road (two blocks north of Monticello), in Cleveland Heights. Heights Summer Music Camp, June 8-13
Heights HighApply now to secure a spot for your budding musician at Heights Summer Music Camp, June 8-13 at Wiley Middle School. Students enrolled in grades 5-8 who reside in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district and have two years of experience in their school's instrumental music program are invited to participate. The fee is $130 for the week of music making. Financial assistance may be requested.
