I had my eye on this building as a new home for alleyCat Yoga for a few years. Yesterday a lease was signed making this dream come true. The "Best of Columbia" just got better.
We will be on the top floor of this historic Columbia building that once stored huge blocks of ice. The ceilings are 12 feet high and the walls are solid brick almost two feet thick creating an incredible experience of peace and quiet.
With this move, planned for October 1, we will have more than double the old floor space with a studio measuring roughly 38'x35' and several separate spaces for massage therapists and other health practitioners.
There will be a separate reception area, a change room and a kitchen to host more social gatherings. Surrounding the building are over 30 parking spots that will be free for our students.
This new location is at 23 South 4th street in The District. It is situated directly across from the Broadway Diner right at Cherry Street. Flatbranch Park and the head of the Katy Trail are directly to the south with the studio's south facing windows looking over the park. A great spot to stroll after class or take the kids from our Yoga to Grow kids program.
Renovations will begin this weekend to create our vision of a wonderful space to practice yoga that welcomes everyone.
The recent success of the 21 Day Sunrise Adventure with 63 students registered illustrates the need for a dedicated place to gather and practice.
Please join us as we create this wonderful space together. Send along questions and ideas about how to make this an even better place to be. To view a bigger version of the above map click here. We are located where the small figure is walking at the top left.
I will keep you up to date on the progress of this creation and before you know it we will be home again. Until the renovations are complete and we move ALL alleyCat classes will continue to be held in the Black & Gold room off the mezzanine in the Tiger Hotel. See you there.
Sincerely,
Ken McRae,
