If you are in Sayulita today you are surely spending your time indoors as the rain has not let up all day long. The river is flowing and there have been several stormy nights over the past week. The rains have helped make the hillsides a bright green and plant life all over Sayulita is flourishing.

Last week Sayulita's plaza received a metal sculpture from the municipality. The sculpture represents the municipal government and was placed in the plaza last week. The symbol is the municipality logo. Some Sayulita residents have mixed feelings on the object; however it appears that it is here to stay. Also this week, Sayulita's oldest man celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday. If you were in town you probably noticed the street closed off to traffic and a celebration happening outside of the Ejido office. This was a great fiesta to celebrate an important man in town who has seen an abundance of changes in Sayulita throughout the years. Happy 100th Birthday to Leonardo Gallegos Garcia.

On Thursday August 23rd, long time resident of Sayulita and valued community member, Leonardo Gallegos Garcia celebrated his 100th birthday with friends, family and the Sayulita Ejido members. Leonardo's birthday bash was held in the street, on Calle Revolucion, just outside of the Ejido building. The street was blocked off for the occasion while live music played; traditional Mexican food was served to guests and birthday cake followed. More
