Greetings to our 7,879 subscribers, This past week Sayulita lost two community members, Estela and Lorenzo Gamez after a tragic automobile accident. Estela and Lorenzo owned and operated the restaurant "Chile Relleno Feliz" on the north side of town, and Lorenzo was an active mountain and road biker. They leave behind family members and friends in Sayulita who will miss them dearly. Our condolences go out to their family. Donations are still needed to help their three children, one of which who suffered injuries in the accident. The outpour of community support has been phenomenal. This week El Sayulero welcomes new writer and contributor to our newsletter, Nicki Cooper who works with Sayulitanimals and has been a community member in Sayulita for the past four years. Esta semana pasada Sayulita perdio dos miembros de la comunidad, Estela y Lorenzo Gamez despues de un accidente automovil�stico. "Do You Shop Locally in Sayulita?"

"I do shop locally. One of my favorite things to say "if I can't find it in sayulita, I probably don't need it." One of the reasons I choose sayulita was for the lack of consumerism here. No 'fast food restaurants' like up north, I don't want a car or television and I wanted to feel a sense of community. I find that everyday, exploring all the shops in our town and finding amazing food and products right here!"

Sayulita Looses Two Community Members

Blanca Estella Gamez Encarnacion (Estella) and her husband Lorenzo Gamez Rodriguez recently died in a tragic car accident south of El Tuito on Monday June 18th, 2012. Their son Lorenzo Adrian Gamez Encarnacion (Adrian) sustained a severe broken leg and shoulder injury. Estella died immediately and Lorenzo died Wednesday morning on his 47th birthday. Their daughters Grecia Carolina Gamez Encarnacion (Carolina) and Kenia Georgina Gamez Encarnacion (Kenia) were not in the car with them. Estella and Lorenzo leave behind their children Adrian (22 yrs.), Carolina (17 yrs.) and Kenia (14 yrs.), Lorenzo's mother Petra, Estella's mother Marina, Estella's four sisters and one brother and many relatives and friends here in Sayulita.  Costa Verde International School began teaching the children of Sayulita in 2008. Their impact and presence in the community has been so pivotal that expansion is necessary. They began with kinder through sixth grade, and after four years of graduating classes longing to stay, they are now able to offer seventh and eighth grades. Community Police Program

Sayulita is a very safe place to visit-- but there are always precautions one should take. In my last article, I urged residents to renew their pledge (or begin if you haven't already) to GPS' Community Police Program. This fund is used exclusively to maintain and increase the number of police patrolling the entire town. Have we been successful? It's hard to know, but I would hate to see the statistics if we didn't have the number of police actively on duty. More

 This momma was found after recently giving birth under an abandoned tinaco. She now lives at Sayulitanimals with her seven pups that are finally ready to find new homes. They are all very sweet and healthy, but we cannot determine size at the moment. The mom is medium in size with short hair, but the pups are quite round and very furry. If you would like to snuggle up to a new puppy or two, contact us today!
