Greetings to our 7,604 subscribers,

Where does the time go? Sayulita Days have come to an end as the town fair packs up for another year. March thus far is sunny and gorgeous, with slightly cool temperatures at night. The town has been bustling despite the current construction project in the downtown area of Sayulita.

This week's El Sayulero brings you an update on the progress of work being done to the streets and plaza, including photos by Donna
Day of the work in progress. The downtown area is beginning to take on a whole new look with a terracotta color scheme along all sidewalks and the new pedestrian zone roads leading to the beach front, including Calle Delfin and Calle Marlin. Certain roads have been closed during the construction and the transit police have been re-routing traffic. Today road work continues on Calle Delfin, outside Ruben's Deli.

Among other improvements to Sayulita, include the newly graveled roadway along the Punta de Mita Highway, from Higuera Blanca to Sayulita. Please read the article below for more information about the Sayulita construction project and check out the photos of the week.

Thank you for reading El Sayulero.

Saludos a nuestros 7,604 suscriptores,

Sayulita Construction Update

Palm Tree-Lined Sidewalks
By Eric Rudd

As reported in the El Sayulero a couple of weeks ago, Manuel and Ruben Rodriguez came up with a great idea: to plant large, mature palm trees along the streets under construction leading to the beach. The new sidewalks were not going to be a design statement by themselves (to say the least), so what could save them?  With some important accents, it's possible to turn lemons into lemonade. Beautiful trees did the trick. It was intense to complete the plantings in time, under pressure of the cement truck. More

Mas

Bite This:  Chicken Provonal at Don Pedro's

By Ed Schwartz

Chicken Provenal is a classic dish of - you guessed it - Provence, the food lover's delight on the Mediterranean, near Italy. Don Pedro's ups the taste ante with not only a luscious and tender oven-roasted Poussin, a baby whole chicken and the sides are just as outstanding. The beans are tender with just a touch of rosemary (a classic spice of Provence) and wilted spinach with a hint of lemon. The sauce can only be described as soft, subtle, spicy. Or, fabulous!   More

O bien, fabuloso! Mas

Octupus at the Marietas Islands
 By Fausto Robles

Although it is basic common sense to care about the environment, there is a big difference in how we perceive such responsibility between ecologists and many of us, the local people. There is often no correlation between the overwhelming information we receive and our daily procedures. Our force of habit not only competes; it prevents the understanding and interest in the concept of an ecosystem. More

Mas

Pet of the Week:  "Beach Lady"

Beach Lady

I'm a sweet, beach lady with a very calm disposition. I kept having litter after litter until finally I was spayed by Sayulitanimals. I don't have a home, but I would really like to finally rest in a safe place with food, water, and someone to love. I'm a good girl, and I will make a wonderful family member.

Contact Sayulitanimals to adopt or donate.  [email protected]

I don't know about you, but I've been avoiding downtown since all the construction has started--lots of dirt, machinery, closed streets. But the other day I went into the heart of it and was really excited by what I saw--the new beautification of Sayulta. There's still plenty of dirt and construction going on, but when all this work is finally over, Sayulita is truly going to be Pueblo Magica. Have a look for yourself...
