Greetings to our 7,590 subscribers,  Sayulita Days are here! Last Saturday was the kick off of Sayulita's annual fair and carnival. It has been a week long celebration of rides, games, vendors, taco and cocktail stands and the fair comes to a close this weekend with the celebration of Flag Day, today, February 24th. Local students from the schools participated in a parade this morning beginning at the entrance of town through to the downtown area of Sayulita. The fair is in full swing tonight and there's something for everyone. Check out Donna Day's photos this week of the night time festivities at the fair. Construction of the downtown plaza is also progressing, this week the new cement floor in the plaza was poured including new handicap accessible ramps, curbs along the streets and palm trees planted along what will be the newly designated pedestrian only walk ways on Calle Delfin and Calle Marlin leading down to the beach. El Sayulero will be bringing a full up-date on the plaza construction next week. Whether you are at the fair this evening, or at the rodeo and dance taking place tonight, I hope everyone in Sayulita enjoys the festivities in town during tonight's Flag Day celebrations. La feria de Sayulita ya esta aqu�! El s�bado pasado fue el comienzo oficial de la carnaval anual en Sayulita. Ha sido una semana de celebraciones, juegos, vendedores, tacos y c�cteles y la feria llega al final este fin de semana ya que hoy es d�a de la bandera, el 24 de febrero. Alumnos locales de las escuelas participaron hoy en el desfile que empez� en la entrada del pueblo hasta el centro de Sayulita. La feria sigue hoy y hay algo para todos. Ver las fotos tomadas por Donna Day esta semana de la feria de noche. La construcci�n en la plaza de Sayulita esta progresando, esta semana echaron nuevo concreto en el piso de la plaza incluyendo rampas para discapacitados, banquetas por las calles y han plantado palmas en las calles que ser�n para peatones, calle marlin y calle delf�n que van hacia la playa. El Sayulero le traer� mas informaci�n sobre la construcci�n la semana que entra. Sayulita Days Fair and Rodeo

 It is the week of "Sayulita Days" and pure fun has erupted in various parts of the "pueblo". On the baseball field and the streets surrounding it are games, drinks, food and vendors. Every night you will find a diverse group of tourists and locales enjoying themselves in the various activities. A large stage on the baseball field hosts different bands, singers and dancers each night. The entertainment varies daily. San Ignacio Street Clean Up Efforts

 San Ignacio resident, and employee of Chocobanana in Sayulita, Candelario Salazar "Cande" has been organizing street clean-ups in San Ignacio over the past year on Monday evenings with a group of kids between the ages of 6-18. Candelario along with the group of students meet at the San Ignacio bus stop and begin their endeavour every Monday evening with biodegradable garbage bags in hand and begin to pick up trash along the side of the highway, stream, streets and neighbourhoods. Coral Reef Presentation at Secundary School

This past Friday, Feb. 16, Reef Check team divers Octavia Jolley and Ty Diffin attended the biology classes at the Sayulita Secondary School located on the Punta Mita Highway to present information on coral reefs. It was a lively presentation that allowed kids to watch a very artistic video of the coral reefs, touch coral samples and even make a coral puppet that introduced the basic anatomy to a single coral to finally joining all the students together to form a coral reef. San Pancho Music Festival

 The 12th annual San Pancho Music Festival will be opening in San Francisco (San Pancho), Nayarit, Friday February 24th at 5:00pm. The Festival will be held for three days, Friday through Sunday the 24th through the 26th. Performances are free to the public and begin each afternoon at 5pm, typically ending prior to 12pm midnight. Pet of the Week: "Alice"
|
Alice is one smart girl! She was wandering the streets of Sayulita and entered into Annie's jewelry store. Good choice. Annie contacted Sayulitanimals and this beautiful pup was placed in foster care till March 1st. She is around 10 weeks old, white with black spots, healthy, spayed, and ready to spend her life with a loving and active family. Alice is going to be a medium to large girl one day and will need good food, ample space, and lots of exercise. She already walks well on her leash and learns very quickly.
