Greetings to our 7,443 subscribers,  Sayulita's sunny days and warm nights have been beautiful, the town is bustling in the midst of high season and there have been some spectacular performances of live music in the plaza this week. Among the many drummers and other musicians who play in the plaza, on Tuesday, January 11th, Sayulita was host to a Cuban musical performance organized by the municipality. The music, dancers and extravagant costumes put on a first-class show. Today, Sayulita is visited by the Nayarit state governor, Roberto Sandoval Castenada, who has come to give a speech at 12:00 p.m. in the plaza to discuss Sayultia's new designation as a Pueblo Magico and what it will mean for the town. Big changes are expected to happen to the downtown area of Sayulita. Stay tuned for more information in the upcoming week. On a more serious note, Sayulita resident of three years and active member of the community, Nicki Cooper finds herself in San Javier Marina Hospital in Puerto Vallarta after suffering internal haemorraging on Tuesday. The Sayulita community is coming together to help Nicki as she needs blood donors, type A+ and also assistance with the costly expense of the surgery she must undergo today. Please take a moment to read the article below for more information about Nicki Cooper and tonight's fundraiser for her at local businesses on the plaza. Nicki's need for type A+ blood also raises awareness that many Mexican hospitals are in constant need of blood donors of all blood types. A group of Sayulita residents have already rallied and car-pooled to Puerto Vallarta to donate blood in Nicki's Coopers name as she prepares for surgery. She was a former teacher for Costa Verde until she turned her volunteer work for Sayulitanimals into a job of passion, continually fostering needy street animals, writing their weekly Sayulero articles, and running the office. She also teaches adult English classes and waitresses at Monchis. She's assisted as a free-lance book editor, written articles for the Sayulita Magazine, and that's just what I know, never mind what her other friends and associates could brag about. More

Drama Queens & Kings Needed for Local Play

 Last season, Redrum Production's Deadly Double Bogey was a big success and raised over $700 U.S. dollars to help provide lunches to students at the Primary School. Organizers Donna Evans-Deyermond and Peter Glass(gluttons for punishment) are looking for actors and individuals who are willing to work behind-the-scenes this season. Plans for this year are still in flux, but Deyermond and Glass are considering two scripts, a simple drama and a murder play. Actors will be required to learn lines and rehearse. More

When purchasing property in a foreign country, you will find many similarities and many differences. One big incentive for foreign buyers is a savings that you will not find on the purchase of property in the States or Canada. This savings comes in the form of property taxes. When talking to potential buyers, we are constantly asked, "How much property tax will I pay a year in Sayulita?" Our answer is usually, "Not very much because property taxes are based on the size and location of the lot or house and not the sale value of the property." The amount usually ranges from .0275% to 1.350% of the low government appraised value, depending on the location of the Property. For example, in Sayulita a 600m2 (6,456ft2) property will only cost around $35USD-$40USD per year in property taxes. More

 Tanka, has been fixed and is about 1 year old. She's healthy, friendly, and loves to play with people, other dogs AND cats, and loves to swim. It's a bit difficult to say just what mix she is, but definitely the water loving and hunting type of dog. Tanka was found in this pueblo this summer, and needs to find a good home. Esta saludable, es amigable y le encanta jugar con la gente, otros perros y tambien los gatos y le gusta nadar.
