Local residents, who live and work on Calle Manuel Plascencia, are taking precautions this season and preparing the riverbed and roadway near Sayulitanimals for the expected heavy rains this summer. Last year, the river overflowed suddenly during September's tropical downpours, provoking floods and damage to homes and local businesses. A group of Sayulita residents met on Saturday, July 30th and Monday, August 1st to help fill approximately 430 bags with sand extracted from the riverbed.  More

 The beachfront public bathrooms located at the end of Calle Pelicanos, along the river, suffered major damage last September, due to the heavy rains and overflow of the river. The bathrooms, which had broken away from the cement, collapsed into the river and were on an approximately 40-degree angle, hanging over into the river and out-of-service for the past eleven months. Reconstruction of the bathrooms commenced four weeks ago; they are almost ready for use again, with a new design and situated slightly back and further away from the river's edge.  More 

El edificio de los ba�os publicos frente a la playa situados al final de la calle Pelicanos, a lo largo del r�o, sufri� graves da�os el septiembre pasado, debido a las fuertes lluvias y el desbordamiento del r�o. Woodpeckers are a family of birds that are found worldwide, except for Australia, New Zealand and Madagascar, which happen to be all large islands with very different and unique flora and fauna. Most species of woodpeckers live in forests or woodland habitats, but there are a few species living in dry desert environments. There are about 200 species and 30 genera. Two species are known to be in recent extinction, the Ivory Billed, and the Giant Imperial Woodpecker. The species most commonly seen in Sayulita are the Lineated, the Pale-billed, and the Golden Cheeked Woodpecker.  More
