School in Sayulita is almost out, local kids are already enjoying the summer and it's the time of year when many of Sayulita's foreign residents travel north and take some vacation time as well. I hope all our readers and contributors near and far experience a great, long weekend whether you are celebrating Canada Day - today! - or the big July 4th (Independence Day celebration) weekend in the USA. For those still in Sayulita this time of year, I'm sure you have been able to enjoy the hot days and the stormy nights; it certainly is getting greener on the hillsides.

Sayulita Life Launches Facebook-Friendly Pages

As part of our ongoing effort to market and connect Sayulita to the rest of the world, we are extremely proud to announce the integration of Facebook "Like/Recommend" buttons on most SayulitaLife.com pages. We launched this addition last Tuesday morning and by the end of the day hundreds of Likes/Recommends had been posted throughout the website.
Business and Homeowners: Please visit your listing and make sure your Facebook link functions correctly. Remember, you must be signed into your Facebook account to Recommend/Like a page.
Sayulita Visitors and Residents: Please take a few moments to browse some of your favorite vacation rentals and businesses and click the Facebook icon on a few of your favorites. Update On Pemex Station For Sayulita

The new Pemex gas station at the corner of Highway 200 and the Punta de Mita Road is slowly taking shape in the large southwest corner lot. The clearing of the land started in October of 2010 and the construction and building on the site started in May of this year. According to an unofficial spokesman, projected completion plans are for the end of July of 2011. More >

Reef Check Program Performs Quarterly

On Saturday, June 18th, a group of Sayulita volunteer Eco-Divers certified by the Reef Check Foundation performed their quarterly survey at the abundant coral reef at Marietas Islands. The results from the reef check program are sent to the main head quarters in Pacific Palisades, California, where an annual report is compiled and provided. The next Reef Check Program to be performed off the shores of Sayulita will take place in September/October of this year. More >

Do you remember the tragic story of Juan Carlos and the fundraiser held for him last year at Don Pedro's Salsa night? Let us remind you... Three years ago, Juan Carlos was seriously injured in a car accident. He was 2-years-old at the time and he suffered a massive head injury that left him with serious brain damage. He is now 5-years-old and he has undergone operations and medical treatment without end. Juan Carlos is completely dependent - he lost most of his motor skills, however responds to touch and voices. He can sometimes move his fingers and legs. He can not speak, but his parents seem to understand a few of his grunting noises. He is unable to eat and is fed through a feeding tube in his stomach. He requires constant attention - 24 hour care. More >

We returned home from our third trip to Sayulita and it was this trip that left the biggest impression. Our first trip was in January 2005 - The town was cute, the surf was good (a couple days) and we enjoyed walking on the beaches we found during our hikes. We noticed that Sayulita was pretty dog friendly compared to other places in Mexico we had traveled before. This made us more comfortable as we have 3 of our own at home. More >

It could come in very handy one day, as this beautiful area of the Bay of Banderas is prime crocodile territory, and the legacy of this ancient creature still exists, sometimes in our very own backyard. This time of year, as the rains revive the rivers, the emigration of the crocodile becomes more active. Several beaches in the Bay have documented croc sightings, even as close to Sayulita as the Litibu/Punta Negra beaches and the San Pancho Lagoon. More >

GPS: Community Police Program is Preparing

We surfed almost every day, it seemed, as the fall/winter/spring season of 2009-2010 offered up week after week of solid swell.
