April Fool's Day brings springtime weather in Sayulita that has been nothing but beautiful; the town welcomes more springtime vacationers every day from around the world. Don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour tomorrow (Saturday) night before going to bed as Daylight Savings Time is upon us in Sayulita! The community forum is abuzz with some great entries to our essay contest " Why I Love Sayulita". Lucha Libre in Sayulita

 Lucha Libre is in Sayulita this Monday, April 4th at Gardenias Salon towards the entrance of town. The Lucha Libre AAA wrestling association will be back in Sayulita with stellar wrestlers such as Joe Lider, Mini Elegido, Avaricia and Mini Histeria. Also wrestling that night in the semifinals will be Histeria 2.0 vs Angelical. Among the organizers of the event is Noe Plasencia, the town delagate who says this will be a fun night of cheering and excitement for everyone in Sayulita. More >

A Catchy Tune From The Bright-Rumped Attila

 Out in the jungle near the beach, each and every morning, early, this damn bird sits really high up in the top branches of a large higuera tree next to my house and belts out his "catchy' tune. You can't even really see the bird because it doesn't move very much. It doesn't bob up and down like many birds when they sing. It just perches and sounds off, for several hours, just after dawn! A sharp repetitive refrain, with softer parts, and then loud crescendos, competing a bit with the Chachalacas. More >

Surf: Shooting Surfers

Over the past few months on a couple of occasions I have been forced by circumstances to use my own photos to illustrate this column. This is unfortunate because while I am a pretty good surfer and I understand the art and sport of it well enough to get what makes a surf photo good, I really don't know how to shoot one. I get too close, or more often, not close enough because I don't want to get whacked. Also I'm usually on a surfboard wielding some crappy little waterproof toy of a camera that isn't even close to sophisticated enough to get the money shot, that indelible instant at the heart of a difficult maneuver. Basically, I don't have the skill and I haven't taken the time or gotten the not-inexpensive gear to shoot good surf pics. More >

I've Been Out Walking...

Every so often, I have to remind myself of the reasons I wanted to move to Mexico, principal among them being to slooooooooow down, take time to enjoy the details, relish the beauty of life, be with my family. See, I am, by nature, not a relaxed person. Regardless of how much quote/un-quote "work" I have at any given time, I am perpetually driven by one agenda or another, be it personal, creative, work, or other. So it is that I find myself rushing from one thing to the next, always in a hurry to get onto my next planned task. Pet of the Week: "Guapo"

Don't buy a Labrador, adopt one! Guapo is a beautiful, one year old, male lab who was found on the beach and taken to Sayulitanimals to be neutered. He is healthy, very gentle, and like most labs, loves children and socializing with people as well as other dogs. He is currently being street fostered, which, though better than no care at all, is not the life for this friendly, vaccinated, Labrador. And to make matters worse, the street foster parent is leaving for the summer! He is the perfect family pet and is ready to be part of your family today!

Est� sano, es muy agradable, y como la mayor�a de los labradores, ama a los ni�os y la socializaci�n con las personas, y con otros perros. Actualmente esta en el cuidado del programa adoptivo, el cual es mejor no es un estilo de vida para este labrador amistoso y vacunado. Y para empeorar las cosas su cuidador por mientreas va a salir para el verano! Es la mascota perfecta para un familia y es listo para ser parte de tu familia hoy!
