Greetings 6,551 El Sayulero Readers,

Our perfect Sayulita weather has returned and stayed with us for the last two weeks. Sunny days, warm breezes, cool evenings, waves for surfers, and loaded fishing boats returning to our beaches remind us all why we chose this paradise for our home and/or vacation. If you are not here now then I highly encourage you to plan your vacation or return "home" ASAP. It really does seem as if this place is just "too good to be true!"

Some notable tidbits for this week include:

Sayulita Essay Contest: Yes, its true! $500 USD cash first place prize with some great alternate prizes as well. Pretty cool judges I might add. The article below explains all details plus you can visit the webpage here.

A Sayulita Magazine? Yes, the local gossip contains some truth. Sayulita is indeed going to have its very own full-color glossy magazine showcasing many of our villages most cherished attributes. Details to follow very soon.

Farmers' Market: I cannot say enough great things about our pueblo's local organic Farmers' Market. Every Friday morning alongside the river hosts a great array of just about everything you could ever want to eat in Mexico. Again, super congratulations to all the organizers of this wonderful weekly community event.

Alaska Airlines Deals:  There are some great rates offered from West Coast airports to Puerto Vallarta.   (No, Alaska does not pay us to advertise this. We just want to help you all come visit Sayulita soon!)

I trust you will all enjoy this issue and as always, El Sayulero thanks its incredible talented team of nonpaid volunteer contributors. Muchas gracias a todos.

Thanks for reading,

Muchas Gracias a Todos.

March Bridge and River Update

 By Leah Jewall

Bridge updateA temporary traffic sand bridge has been created at the river crossing at the foot of calle Palmar, replacing the pedestrian sand bridge made of wooden planks. Two culverts have been positioned under the bridge to facilitate the passage of the still-flowing river water. This welcome addition has made for a much smoother crossing, as it is wide enough to accommodate two-way traffic, and helps to ease congestion, particularly on the south end of Palmar.  More >

Ruben'sThere are a lot of construction projects underway in Sayulita and there is a similar look and feel to every one. The men on the job work very hard, long hours, under a hot sun and are as efficient as they can be without using fancy construction equipment. It's all by hand.  More >

  What Time Is It?
Daylight Savings

By Maria Zache

Lately, I've been a little confused as to what time it is. The air conditioning mechanic in La Peita told us to come back at 8:00 the next morning, when he would have the part. It wasn't until late that night in Sayulita that I remembered La Peita is in the Mountain Time Zone as it has always been, and Sayulita was until last spring. (I'm glad that we didn't show up at 7:00!) More >

Mas >

  Sayulitanimals Medical Aid Success

SayulitanimalsSayulitanimals' medical aid program is dependent on people like Wendy and Gabe Jones, two animal lovers from Vancouver BC who just moved to Sayulita last week with their Chihuahuas Chewy and Leeno. Moved by their first visit three years ago, they wanted to give back to Sayulita and its beautiful dog population. When they arrived, they told their property manager their desire to add a third dog to their family and immediately contacted Sayulitanimals with their willingness to help in any way.  More >

Mas >
GPS: Who Doesn't Have Internet Issues?
By Grupo Pro Sayulitainternet issues

A week ago, I mentioned that we make slips. If you've read to the bottom of my El Sayulero articles, you'll notice that I post my email contact address in case anyone wants any specific information about Grupo Pro Sayulita or wants to contact me directly (hopefully about helping!) Well, it's been a very busy few months and I get a hundred emails a day, so I never noticed that none of them came via [email protected].Nor did I receive any emails via [email protected]More >

Mas >

Surf: Mea Culpa, Lo Siento, Surf's Up
Mea Culpa

By Justin Henderson

Recently it has been brought to my attention that in my zeal to talk about surfing in Sayulita and Nayarit, I have overstepped some boundaries with regard to giving out information on how to get to certain spots that may not be secret in the strictest sense of the word, but are still not on the general surfing radar map.   Food: Mango Love
mango

By Leah Jewall

Mangoes. I love everything about them, their size, color, taste, shape, feel, aroma, symbolism, origin, price, everything. Delicious and sensuous globules of lusciousness and tactile, fleshy softness, I want to ingest them from every pore, I want their juices coursing down my lips in a festival of apricot-hued sybaritic dreams. Did you know that orange is the color of love? If you like to wear orange, they say you believe in love. More >

Wellness:  Spring Time... The Kapha Season
Kapha

By Narayani

Spring is gently coming to life - and with it, a call for a subtle change in lifestyle as our bodies and minds adjust to a kinder environment. We see our beautiful Sayulita full of flowers, birds, warmer nights and more nightlife than during the winter. As the seasons change, our bodies require a different diet and lifestyle to stay balanced. Mind-body awareness techniques, such as yoga, help us to naturally want to make such changes.  More >

Pet of the Week:  Cute Kitty
Cat
The perfect pet for a busy life is an independent one!  This female kitty is about eight months old, spayed, and enjoys a lot of free time in her own space.  She needs human affection and attention but in small doses.  Her personality would fit perfectly with someone who wants to enjoy the company of a pet but doesn't have a lot of time to spend with it.  She is also a very good hunter and will keep your space free of mice!

For information and/or donations, please come visit the Sayulitanimals' table on Fridays at the Farmer's Market.

To adopt this pet or make a donation, please contact sayulitanimals

Quiet Times On The Beach
Even though it was a little crowded last weekend, I've really been enjoying some quiet times on the beach....
