What holiday is more steeped in tradition than Christmas Day? In our family this has always meant a Christmas Eve candlelight service ending at midnight, often with snowflakes falling as we walked up the hill home. Wednesday, December 22nd Tropical House will be hosting the art opening, "Mexico as a Journey" by Treva Dea.

Treva is the art teacher at Costa Verde International School here in Sayulita. The oil paintings evoke an interlude in the personal journey of Mexico's landscapes and one's own perceptions. The showing is from 6pm to 9pm, with the pieces on show at Tropical House over the month of January.

Tropical House is located in the north end on Ave. Del Palmar. Portion of the proceeds to benefit Costa Verde's art education program.

For the last few weeks, there has been a little roadside stand set up in San Ignacio, the town right before Sayulita. The vendor has precariously set up a beautiful display of bright orange fruit that is unlike any common fruit that I see on a day to day basis in the fruit stands or fruit trucks around town. It is known as the "mamey" fruit and you have to try for yourself to see if the flavor appeals.  More >
