 Sayulitans have been celebrating Revolution Day (November 20th) all this past week week with its many related acivities. Town was alive with residents and visitors alike, out to watch the children march in the parade, as well as the dancing horses, the rodeo, and the cowboys and revolutionaries. Following the Revolution Day festivities, the Ejido of Sayulita marked its annual Ejido Day with celebrations as well. There were live bands at the baseball field, lots of traditional food was served and the good times continued at the Gardenias Salon, near the entrance to town. I hope everyone in Sayulita got a chance to take part in the celebrations and also spend time with friends and family over the American Thanksgiving holiday in Sayulita.A reminder comes to the residents of Sayulita from Grupo Pro Sayulita that as of now, Sayulita does not have a recycling pick-up; however, you can take your recycling (plastic bottles, including cleaners and milk bottles, "clear-only" glass, aluminum cans and flattened cardboard) to the Recycling Center located on the Punta Mita highway just up from the "Y" to Sayulita. Please be sure to deposit recyclable materials in the big bag; everything will be sorted from there. Currently the recycling truck is "in the shop"; once the truck is repaired, pick-up will resume, collecting from the bins in town. Thank you for your help keeping Sayulita clean and safe.Enjoy the sun, sand and surf in Sayulita and thank you once again for reading El Sayulero.

Ha habido muchas fiestas en Sayulita durantes esta semana con el día festivo nacional del día de revolución que se celebra el día 20 de noviembre y el pueblo estaba muy movido con mucha gente en las calles, niños participando en el desfile, caballos bailando, jaripeo, vaqueros y revolucionarios. Luego hubo la fiesta del Ejido en Sayulita. Había fiesta en el campo de béisbol con música, bandas y comida tradicional y también se celebro la fiesta en el salón de gardenias en la entrada del pueblo. Espero que todos en Sayulita hayan podido ir a ver las festividades y que también tomaron el tiempo para pasarla con la familia y amigos durante el día de acción de gracias. Un recordatorio para los residentes de Sayulita de Grupo Pro Sayulita. Actualmente Sayulita no tiene recolección de reciclaje, sin embargo se puede llevar todo el reciclaje a la bodega ubicada por la carretera a Punta Mita pasando la "Y" a Sayulita. Favor de asegurar que tiren todo el reciclaje a la bolsa grande que esta ahí y luego se organizara todo. Por el momento el camión de reciclaje esta descompuesto y en cuanto se arregle habrá recolección de reciclaje de nuevo en el pueblo. Gracias por ayudar a mantener Sayulita limpio y seguro. Sea Turtle Presentation at Punta Sayulita

The presentation took place on Tuesday, November 23rd at 5:30 PM at the Punta Sayulita Beach House. The presentation included movies and slideshows on all different species of sea turtles and focused on educating Sayulita residents and visitors, in particular the youth of Sayulita about protecting the sea turtles that visit our shores every year to lay their eggs in the sand.  25 local residents of the communities of San Pancho and Sayulita were trained and certified as lifeguards on 20, 21 and 22 November. The training was very intense and involved various water rescue techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), spinal immobilization, proper care and transport of conscious and unconscious victims, wounds, fractures, jellyfish and stingray injuries, activation of the emergency system local and much more. I'm not as "snowy" as many snowbirds. Yes, my husband is retired, but I am still working - at least about 8 1/2 months out of the year. While I feel very lucky to be able to escape for the better part of each winter, I now find myself "champing at the bit" to get going and join our fellow snowbirds on the road and at our destination, the ever-lovely and enticing Sayulita. High season is in full swing, friends ask: "When are you coming?", and I note on Facebook that plans are starting to gel and reconnections are being made, without us at this point. More >

As a resident of two small towns (here and in Massachusetts), I've been involved with scores of charities and groups needing money. I've tried to curtail those activies in recent years and spend more time on my art projects. But as the 2010 president of Grupo Pro Sayulita, here I am again (am I a gutten for punishment?).

 Manchas was adopted about a year ago when she was a cute, little puppy. She was lucky and has been with a kind, responsible owner. He would take her for walks on the beach every morning and had her spayed at Sayulitanimals' spay and neuter clinic, but she has lived her life on a three foot rope. When she is released, her pent up energy creates poor behavior. She is now tied up at the owner's house on a heavy chain, so she can't escape and cause a raucous. The owner works long hours every day and is unable to care for her anymore. She is playful, healthy, and has a darling personality. She needs exercise and attention. Manchas fue adoptada hace un ano cuando era cachorro y lindo. Era afortunada y tenia un dueno amable y responsable. La llevaria a pasear en la playa cada manana y la llevo a SayulitaAnimals a esterilizarla pero ha vivido su vida en una soga de 3 pies. Cuando la sueltan la energia que tiene causa mal comportamiento. Ahora esta encandenada en la casa del dueno para que no pueda escaparse y causar problemas. El dueno trabaja horas muy largas y ya no la puede cuidar. Es juguetona, saludable y tiene buena personalidad. Necesita ejercicio y atencion. Alguien quiere brindarle un hogar?

Where were you born and when did you first come to Sayulita?
I was born in Guadalajara and I grew up there and first came to Sayulita to visit 35 years ago after marrying my husband. We both loved Sayulita and we decided to make Sayulita our home 32 years ago.
Family information?
My family is from Guadalajara and I have siblings who still live there that I go visit. I have one brother and four sisters. I met my husband, Juan Francisco, in Guadalajara and we were married for 47 years. My husband passed away on January 7th, 2006. We didn't have any children but I have nieces and nephews here in Sayulita.
¿Donde nació usted y cuando fue la primera vez que llego a Sayulita?
Nací en Guadalajara y allá crecí y vine a Sayulita de visita hace 35 años después de casarme con mi esposo. Nosotros dos nos gusto Sayulita y decidimos quedarnos en Sayulita hace 32 anos.
¿Información de la familia?
Toda mi familia es de Guadalajara y tengo hermanos que todavía viven en Guadalajara y voy a visitarlos. Tengo un hermano y cuatro hermanas. Conocí a mi esposo, Juan Francisco, en Guadalajara y estábamos casados por 47 años. Mi esposo se falleció el día 7 de enero, 2006. No tuvimos hijos pero tengo a sobrinos y sobrinas en Sayulita.
