Spirits are up in Sayulita and happy vacationers and locals are enjoying the influx of business and renters to Sayulita in the last week. The town, along with the rest of Mexico, celebrates Revolution Day tomorrow, a national holiday in Mexico. Sayulita is a perfect getaway location for many families from big cities such as Guadalajara, Tepic and Mexico City. Get ready for a great parade tomorrow on the main street with many Sayulitan school children particitpating. With American Thanksgiving coming next week, a new wave of visitors will be added and high season will be in full swing.The Sayulita beach has improved greatly due to some recent big swells and workers who can be found cleaning up garbage and debris on the beach every day between 7 AM - 2 PM. Already the north and south end of the Sayulita beach have been cleaned up and the sand has been leveled out. This past week the water commission in Sayulita cleaned the river at Calle Navarette and Pelicanos; the riverbed is currently is good condition and quickly drying up. Los visitantes y locales se animan de buen humor en Sayulita con el aumento de negocios y rentas que hay en Sayulita. El pueblo y el resto de Sayulita celebran Día de Revolución mañana, un día festivo en México. Sayulita es el destino perfecto para vacacionar con familias y escapar de las ciudades como Guadalajara, Tepic y México. Prepárense para un desfile mañana por la plaza con niños de las escuelas participando. Con el día de acción de gracias la próxima semana, va a haber aun mas visitantes. La playa en Sayulita ha mejorado mucho debido al swell de olas que llego durante esta semana y gracias a los trabajadores que se encuentran limpiando la playa entre las horas de 7 AM y 2 PM. Ya tienen bien limpia la playa en el norte y el sur y han emparejando la arena en la playa. Esta semana pasada la comisión del agua en Sayulita limpio el río por calle Navarrete y Pelícanos; el río esta en buen estado y el río se esta secando.

New Sanitary Sewers in Sayulita Neighborhoods

By: Lindsay WalterThe Bahia de Banderas municipality proposed the installation of new sanitary sewer systems in the Mangal, Avestrus, 21 De Marzo and Las Pinas neigborhoods of Sayulita back in April of this year. The project began back in June and there was a two month delay due to the heavy rains in Sayulita. Workers resumed the project in October and Lazaro Cardenas Garcia, head of the water commission in Sayulita and surrounding areas says the new sewers are now 70% completed with approximately two month more of construction. Rotary Club in Sayulita

 Anyone wanting to get involved in the new Rotary Club in Sayulita is invited to join the group meetings on Tuesdays at 2 PM at the El Espresso Coffee Shop in Sayulita.
Rotary is a community service organization and we need everyone in town to come together. The meetings will be bi-lingual with a translator at each one. Our current areas of interest include: - Youth programs
- A reading room or lending library
- Music programs
- Financial literacy
- Public health and health education

Sayulita's Revolution & Ejido Formation

The history of Sayulita is intimately linked with the Mexican Revolution and it is our special day, so come out and enjoy the best town parade on November 20, Revolution Day! Ejidos are land grants that the government gave to the workers to sow, and constituted the family estate. The Revolution was the trigger for the redistribution of all the farm land. Emiliano Zapata and his slogan "Tierra y Libertad" (Land and Freedom) quickly became the slogan of the workers of the land, as for many years his attempts at obtaining land for the workers had been thwarted. Before the Revolution, the laborers worked day after day without pay, and what little income they earned was used to buy goods in a store owned by the landlord, where they sold food at exorbitant prices to the workers. La historia de Sayulita es íntimamente vinculada con la Revolución Mexicana y es nuestro día especial, por lo que hay que salir y disfrutar del desfile en Sayulita, el 20 de noviembre, Día de la Revolución. Pet of the Week

 A part-time Sayulita resident has returned for the winter only to find a mother cat and her three kittens in his garage. The kittens are about 1 1/2 months old, healthy and very cute. They are not feral cats. The mom is very friendly and the babies are a touch shy. Sayulitanimals spayed the mother and will do the same for the kittens once they are old enough. They are now all in need of loving homes. To prevent surprises such as this, we ask every Sayulita resident, home owner and part-time resident to help us by using one of our cat traps to bring in the street cats for our free spay/neuter program. The help of the community is crucial if we want to see an improvement in the health and well-being of our cat population. Thank you for your support.  Un residente de Sayulita a tiempo parcial ha tenido un rendimiento para el invierno sólo para encontrar un gato de la madre y sus tres gatitos en su garaje. Los gatitos son aproximadamente 1 1 / 2 meses de edad, sano y muy lindo. No son los gatos salvajes. La mamá es muy amable y los bebés son un poco tímido. ¿Dónde naciste y a qué te dedicas?
Nací en la ciudad de México y viví allá veintisiete años. Soy artesana y estudié joyería y orfebrería en Bellas Artes en DF. He viajado mucho en Europa y México con la danza y haciendo temazcales.
Where were you born and what do you do?
I was born in Mexico City where I lived for twenty seven years. I'm an artist and have studied jewelery and gold design in Bellas Artes in Mexico City. I've also traveled a lot in Europe and México teaching dance and about sweat lodges.
¿Cuándo viniste a Sayulita?
Vine en 2007 para una ceremonia en Ixtlán y allí conocí a gente de Sayulita. Me invitaron a danzar aquí y entonces conocí a mi esposo. Creo en la memoria genética y creo que el Gran Espíritu me ha traído aquí para compartir la danza, la canta y el temazcal.
When did you first come to Sayulita?
I went to Ixtlán in 2007 for a ceremony and there I met some people from Sayulita. They invited me to dance here and that's when I met my husband. I believe in genetic memory and I believe the Great Spirit has brought me here to share my knowledge of dance, song and the tradition of the sweat lodge.
