The weather has certainly changed in the last week and Sayulita residents and visitors are experiencing cooler mornings and evenings and beautiful sunshine during the day. The town is beginning to welcome many familiar faces arriving back in Sayulita for the winter months and new visitors are enjoying the beach, the great surf and warm climate. Progress is coming along on the new traffic bridge into town and is expected to be completed by December as the river rapidly dries up for the season.

Making Good Use of the Sun in Sayulita
Solar Panels
By: Lindsay Walter

More and more Sayulita locals and residents are doing their part to not only keep Sayulita clean but keep the environment clean as well. Terry Orr of Casa Buena Onda, surf hotel, has taken further steps to go green by making use of the sunshine in Sayulita. Solar panels have become increasingly popular in the last few years and "with an average of ten hours of sunshine per day in Sayulita, throughout approximately 300 days of the year why not use the sun's power?" says Terry. This school year marks the 4th year EntreAmigos has provided scholarships to deserving and needy San Pancho students. Over 130 students applied for assistance this year and 55 were accepted into the program.   Give and Take
By Leah Jewall

Sayulita townOne thing I like about Sayulita is the natural ease of give and take that people fall into here. It seems the natural greed and dog eat dog competition dissolves in this space and people want to cooperate. Or maybe, Sayulita being a some would say spiritual vortex or centre, because our little town only attracts the like-minded and spiritually evolved.  More >

Mas >

  What is Sayulitanimals?
A Note From the President, Sara Briner
sayulitanimals
It has been nearly two years since Sayulitanimals was founded, and my dedication and enthusiasm for helping the dogs and cats in our beautiful village hasn't waned. The organization was built on four principle programs which have remained in place through all of our changes and have never been altered. Yet, it surprises me how many people ask about the animal shelter, or how many dogs we have at the shelter, or if the veterinary clinic is open. It stands to reason that the community isn't quite clear on what Sayulitanimals is. I would like to take a moment to clarify who we are and what we do. More >

Mas >

How We Can REALLY Make Sayulita Great!
GPSGrupo Pro Sayulita

I dream of a clean and safe Sayulita, without disturbing the charm or the culture or the reason that we all came to live here.

OK, that's the dream, but can it really be done?

The cooperation that I've witnessed since the floods has enthused me to believe that we can continue to work together, not just to repair the damage, but to improve Sayulita

Mas >

The Bright Side of Blasters
BlastersBy Andrea Villarrubia

Ah, the birthday party - such a rite of childhood, filled with ritual, joy, celebration, and... sugar. As a parent - let's be honest, as a human - I tend to obsess on sugar. Having quite a sweet tooth myself, I hope to instill in my kid a more balanced relationship to sugar, sweets, and all things junk food. More >

Going Local
A Poem
Going LocalBy: Justin Henderson

A sort of poem for my friends in the waves
Saturday night and a bottle of wine

YOU Wake up in the morning and wonder
About today
Where it's going, where you
Will end up in the afternoon wondering
Why you are where you are
In a general sense
Not knowing anything even though
You oughta be old enough to know
Something more than what the heck
But you don't
You're just drawing a breath
Catching a ray

Pet of the Week
"Shakira"

Shakira the dogLife has left this extraordinarily sweet and gentle female Boxer without a name.  She has been "street fostered" for several years, and she deserves better.  She is great with children and other dogs, housebroken and fixed.  She has a slightly crippled back leg, but she is fully mobile. She is about six years old and does not need a lot of space.  She would be a great companion in a small apartment or studio.  The people who claimed her have become tired of having a pet and no longer want her.  Please help this lovely girl have the family and security she needs and deserves.  To adopt this dog or make a donation to Sayulitanimals, please contact Sara.
