Greetings 5,988 El Sayulero Readers,
Our edition this week is the last of the bi-weekly editions of El Sayulero for the summer season. Thanks to our wonderful team of volunteer contributors the November 5, 2010 El Sayulero will kick off the winter season with weekly online editions through Spring of 2011. On behalf of all our readers I am extending yet another giant heartfelt GRACIAS to all those who contribute to this publication. Thank you!
Today's edition brings us updates on the bridge construction, the safety of Sayulita after the flood, Sayulita Daycare needs, and a new Tele Prepa in Sayulita. Great stuff. Andrea's article about the Fall season can help a lot of non-locals relate to the weather temperatures here. Astrid talks to one of our contributors Dr Moy, and Octavia and Daniel provide some in-depth knowledge of an animal many of us see around the outskirts of the village. SayulitAnimals is back with a new pet for someone to adopt and we wrap up with logistical recommendations for both airline travel and predicting great waves for surfing. And as always, Donna's stellar pictures remind us how our community can get together to better itself. Such was the case yesterday for the Sayulita Street Cleaning.
On a business note, El Sayulero welcomes Sayulita Consulting Group to town and just a reminder that the Sayulita Bookstore will not resume regular hours until the 29th of November. Leah Jewall, manager, has been busy with her contributions to El Sayulero and how now made her Spanish Translation Services available to residents of Sayulita

New Pedestrian Bridge Completed

 The new white pedestrian bridge span has been positioned over the river since Monday, and today the ramps went up on either side to complete it. It was fully operational by this afternoon, and is now the only access across the river. On the north side of the river, heavy wooden planks have been placed across the muddy area between the foot of the bridge and calle Revolución, and a three metre stretch of sidewalk is being built there. Once this stretch is completed, the bridge will be accessible for wheelchairs. More >
El nuevo blanco puente peatonal se ha colocado sobre el río desde el lunes, y hoy instalaron las rampas a ambos lados para completarlo. Fue en pleno funcionamiento esta tarde, y ahora es el único acceso a travesar el río. En el lado norte del río, han colocado dos tablones de madera en la zona del barro entre el pie del puente y la calle Revolución , y están construyendo un tramo de tres metros de banqueta allí. Sayulita Daycare in Need of New Location

The Sayulita Daycare, Estancia Infantil Caritas, located in Tamarindos is in need of finding a new location, a new administrator, teachers and/or volunteers. Many local parents who have children still not old enough to attend kindergarten depend on the local daycare facilities to educate and look after their children while they are at work. The need for a new daycare location comes after recent issues of overdue rent at the current location and lack of administration. The Estancia Infantil Caritas daycare will be closed as of October 29th. . More >

Nature: El Tejon, The Clown of the Jungle

If you are new to this part of Mexico, and happen to be taking a walk in the jungle of Sayulita, you might see animals a little bigger than raccoons crossing from one side of your pathway to the other. They have long tails held erect, leading many first-time visitors to think they are monkeys. Since there are no monkeys in western Mexico, it can only be the "tejon.". More >

New Tele Prepa in Sayulita

This new school is an option primarily for those students who can not afford the costs of going to a school in other villages such as La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, La Peñita or Puerto Vallarta. The new school is also for people who can't be admitted to regular institutions because of their age and for workers who dropped out of school early to join the labor force. More >

Some things are simply not available here.Many things seem more expensive here, although Home Depot and Costco have helped. But even at Home Depot, a shop vac is about twice the price as in the U.S.Does it pay to use up baggage space to bring one from home rather than spend the extra money here?(Although keep in mind, prices here include a 15% tax while prices in the U.S. do not include the state tax-usually 5-7%.)

We always used to hear from the old-timers that one day in mid-October, it just suddenly cools off and dries up. It seemed far-fetched, but after five Octobers, I'm a believer. Last weekend was as hot as ever, but Monday morning came on cool, crisp, and humidity-free (you know the season has changed when it's cooler outside than in your AC'd bedroom...). The week has been gorgeous, I was able to blow-dry my hair without sweating, and I am actually wearing a (very lightweight) sweater as I sit here typing, in the middle of the afternoon. More >

Today, numerous sites offer up to two weeks of advance forecasts with daily, even hourly updates useful to surfers virtually anywhere in the world, charting swell size and interval, wind speed and direction, tides, weather, and water and air temperatures. Sayulita Street Cleaning

This morning I was coming out of my Spanish class at CVIS and saw a sight to behold--A DUST FREE STREET! The 6th graders from CVIS were just finishing up cleaning the entire block in front of the school. It took them less than an hour and it looked amazing! I stupidly had left the house without my camera and ran into the school office looking for a camera. Sandra Avila came up with a couple owned by the school. The first one couldn't focus and the second shot only small files. But I felt that these images were inspiring enough to share. More photos >Esta mañana yo estaba saliendo de mi clase de español en CVIS y vio un espectáculo para la vista - LIBRE DE POLVO A LA CALLE! El 6 º grado de CVIS fueron terminando de limpiar el bloque entero frente a la escuela. En menos de una hora ellos y se veía increíble! Estúpidamente había salido de casa sin mi cámara y corrí a la oficina de la escuela en busca de una cámara. Sandra Ávila se acercó con un par de propiedad de la escuela. La primera no podía concentrarse y el segundo disparo archivos pequeños. Pero sentí que estas imágenes fueron inspiración suficiente para compartir.

Pet of the Week
"Buddy"
|
 Buddy was found nearly dead on the side of the road. Now he is healthy and strong. Buddy would be great for a surfer or beach lover because he swims through the waves like a dolphin! He also loves to go for walks and fetch sticks in the water. He is not noisy or hyper. He is very gentle and extremely loving. He is about 15-20 pounds, black and tan coloring, and he has gorgeous eyes. He is loyal and would make a great guard dog to help keep your property secure, but due to his need for socialization and love of the beach, he cannot be tied up at a house. Buddy is very special. Does anyone have a good heart and home for him?
 Encontraron a Buddy casi muerto por un lado de la calle. Ahora es saludable y fuerte. Buddy seria perfecto para un surfista o amante de la playa porque le encanta nadar por las olas como un delfín. También le gusta ir a pasear e ir a buscar palos que le tiras. No es hiperactivo ni ruidoso. Es muy tranquilo y amable. Pesa unos 10 - 15 kilos, es negro y beige y tiene ojos hermosos. Es muy leal y seria buen perro guardián para la seguridad de tu propiedad, pero no puede estar atado afuera de una casa porque le gusta socializar y jugar en la playa. Buddy es muy especial. ¿Alguien tiene un buen corazón y hogar para el?

I'm from England. I was born in Birmingham, but grew up in Cornwall. I'm trained as a silver star waiter and bartender. I'll be 37 in December.
2. What brought you to Mexico?
I flew to Puerto Vallarta in 2003 to be the best man at my best friend's wedding. I liked it here so I decided to stay.
