As most of you know by now Sayulita has experienced flooding at catastrophic levels due to the barrages of summer rains.   My sincere apologies to all El Sayulero readers and Sayulita residents for the lack of in-depth coverage on a daily basis. Most of our volunteer writers and myself were all out of the area during these tumultuous times and even we relied on our forum for up-to-the minute reports.  On behalf of all Sayulita residents who were away, I want to thank all the locals who posted information and links to videos and pictures.   This has been one of the best uses of the forum since we created it over six years ago.  Gracias and please keep posting when you still have the time and energy!
 
Our other stories seem insignificant in comparison to this headline news but we have included them nonetheless.  Flood cleanup is well underway and as you will see below Sayulita needs your help. Residents have lost homes, cars, pets, livestock and in some cases all their possessions.  I would like to urge all readers to do/give what they can to help out our fellow neighbors.
 
The Sayulita bridge has been damaged beyond repair and the latest estimates by local government state a new bridge will be in place in about 45-60 days.   Fingers are crossed and in the mean time local traffic has been diverted around the Punta Mita highway.
 
One a lighter note, a recent article at bizjournals.com reports that tourist travel to Mexico this summer is up 35% and the Dallas Morning News ranked Sayulita as the number one location for your family's next adventure.

La mayoría de ustedes ya saben que Sayulita ha sufrido una inundación
catastrófica debido a las lluvias de este verano. Mis disculpas a
todos los lectores de El Sayulero por la falta de cobertura a diario
sobre este evento. La mayoría de nuestros voluntarios que contribuyen
artículos no están en el área durante esta época de lluvias y hasta
nosotros hemos estado dependiendo del foro para obtener informes más
actuales. Quiere agradecer a todos los locales en Sayulita que han
contribuido información, vínculos, videos y fotos. Esto ha sido de
mucho valor en el foro y el mejor uso del foro desde que lo creamos
hace seis anos. Gracias y sigan agregando información al foro cuando
tengan la oportunidad o las energías para hacerlo.

Otros artículos no parecen tener tanta importancia comparada a las
noticias principales pero también hemos incluido otros artículos. La
limpieza de la inundación y ha comenzado en Sayulita como se explica
abajo y Sayulita necesita ayuda. Hay residentes que han perdido sus
casas, carros, mascotas y en algunos casos hay personas que han
perdido todas sus pertenencias. Me gustaría animar a los lectores que
hagan/den lo que puedan para ayudar a nuestros vecinos.

El puente de Sayulita ha sufrido muchos danos que no se podrán reparar
y se calcula por el gobierno estatal que van a instalar un nuevo
puente dentro de 45-60 días. Esperamos que se repare pronto y por
mientras el tráfico es desviado hasta la carretera Punta de Mita.

Por otra parte, un articulo en bizjournals.com informa que el turismo
en México este verano se ha aumentado 35% y las noticias de Dallas
informo que Sayulita ocupa el destino numero uno para vacaciones de
aventuras con la familia.

Mientras el boletín y sitio web de ElSayulero.com seguirá con las
publicaciones bi-semanales durante el veranos, favor de mantener
informados sobre la inundación por medios del foro.
