Greetings 5,698 El Sayulero Readers,
Despite the high temperatures in Sayulita of late we have had some
rain showers that have cooled the town down in the last day or two. The
rain was an effect of hurricane Frank which passed over the Pacific
Ocean yesterday. Thankfully there are no current hurricane warnings in
this area of Riviera Nayarit.  On an extremely positive note, Sayulita has once again received worldwide recognition with the following articles: The AARP magazine has traveled the globe to find the top five best places to retire abroad. Congratulations to Mexico on the second Miss Universe win. This week's El Sayulero comes with sad news of two Sayulita
residents who have recently passed away. They will be greatly missed by
their friends, family and their customers. Please read the below

A pesar de las altas
temperaturas ahorita, hemos sentido que el pueblo se ha refrescado con las
lluvias que hemos recibido durante estos días por causa del huracán Frank que
paso por el océano pacifico ayer. Afortunadamente no hemos recibido avisos de huracanes
que nos afecta en esta región de la riviera nayarit.
Notando algo muy positivo, Sayulita de nuevo ha recibido el reconocimiento mundial con los siguientes artículos:
La revista AARP ha viajado por el mundo para encontrar los cinco mejores lugares para retirarse en el extranjero. Ver donde Puerto Vallarta y nuestra costa tiene lugar en la lista aquí.
Ademas, retireworldwide.com hizo una lista de los cinco mejores lugares para jubilarse y Sayulita aparece en la lista. Ver que es lo que hace que Sayulita sea un gran lugar para retirarse aquí.
México tambien esta semana es orgulloso de Jimena Navarrete quien gano Señorita Universo y
representaba México en el concurso de Miss Universe esta semana. Felicitaciones
a México por ganar por segunda vez Señorita Universo.
Esta edición de El Sayulero nos trae noticias tristes de dos residentes de
Sayulita que se han fallecido. Sus amigos y familias los extrañarán mucho.

Sayulita has lost two residents over the last two weeks, Jose Luis
Godinez Mojica, in a tragic automobile accident on Highway 200 outside
of Sayulita, and Juan Jose Muró, who died of a heart attack in Puerto

The freshness of the early morning breeze blowing through the room as I
snuggle beneath a down quilt, enjoying the comfort of flannelette
sheets, early morning walks over unbroken cement through parkways lush
with desiduous and coniferous vegetation, clean, bubbling streams,
beautifully manicured lawns, listening to the unique song of the
meadowlark, a big orange harvest moon rising in an endless prairie
sky......these are a few of my favourite things about spending part of
the summer in the GWN, and how I appreciate them!

CVIS: New Year, New Programs, New Faces

This "Back to School" week marked the beginning of Costa Verde International School's
third year in operation. With a new directorial team at the helm, four
new teachers on board and a host of other changes and new programs, the
CVIS team is excited about the year to come. I stopped by last week
before school started to chat with new Academic Director Julie
Brenninkmeyer about what's in store for the CVIS community this year.

Coming Home

After wandering about the northwestern corner of the U.S. for a month,
we came home to Sayulita last week and I immediately plunged into the
surfing side of things. A great one-hour session at the main break here
in town - six guys out at eight in the morning, light offshore breeze,
crisp, fast little chest-high rights - started things off. After that I
went with a couple of my local amigos over to Punta Mita to surf my
favorite waves.

Grupo Pro Sayulita: Language Issues

When Barbara and I first arrived in Sayulita for the winters, we
started to take Spanish lessons with Liliana at the bookstore. Taking
Spanish classes was also the social thing to do-we met many of our
friends at those classes. They were fun, although an older adult
"student" class meant that our minds were no longer 'sponges' that many
things had to be repeated. I joked with Liliana that first day that she
and I would grow old together. I tried to convey to her how difficult
it was for me to learn a language.

comenzaron a tomar clases de español con Liliana en la librería. Tomar
español clases fueron también la cosa social de hacer-encontramos
muchos de a nuestros amigos en esas clases. Fueron divertidos, aunque

It's A Jungle Out There!

This is the most beautiful time in the Sayulita jungle. Everything is
so lush and green - it's amazing. But it's also the most beautiful time
in the Northwest forests in a different way...a really cold way. On one
walk I was wearing a down coat and Ugg boots, the other, flip flops and
a strapless dress. Go figure... More Photos >Esta es la época más hermosa en la selva de Sayulita. Todo es tan exuberante y verde - es asombroso. Where were you born and when did you come to Sayulita?
I was born in Colima. I came to Sayulita 14 years ago because I heard
there were more opportunities here and better pay. My sister lived in
San Ignacio and I came to visit her and look for work. I have been
living in San Ignacio ever since.
¿Donde naciste y cuando llego a Sayulita? Nací en
Colima. Llegue a Sayulita hace 14 años porque había escuchado que
Sayulita ofrecía mas oportunidades y todos estaban mejor pagados aquí.
Mi hermana vivía en San Ignacio y vine a visitarla y buscar trabajo. He
estado viviendo en San Ignacio desde entonces.

Family Information? I live my wife Gloria in San
Ignacio and we have two children, a son named Heriberto and a daughter
named Cecelia. I am one of 10 children all together and many members of
my family still live in Colima. I have three brothers who live in the
United States.
¿Información de la familia? Vivo con mi esposa
Gloria en San Ignacio y tenemos dos hijos. Un hijo que se llama
Heriberto y una hija que se llama Cecilia. Soy uno de 10 hijos en total
y muchos miembros de mi familia siguen en Colima. Tengo tres hermanos
que fueron a vivir en Estados Unidos.
