Greetings 5,270 El Sayulero Readers,
Whew! I just
returned from the Sayulita Farmer's Market where you can find a vast array of
healthy food, snacks, lotions, scrubs, coffee, and plenty more. Next Saturday is their last day until
next season so make sure to check it out. We received an abundant amount of response regarding a
couple of our articles last week. Our readers' comments/emails/phone calls ranged from very positive
"thank you's" to disgruntled "complaints." ALL of your comments, suggestions, and complaints are always
welcome and we look forward to providing the village of Sayulita with plenty
more news events in the months/years to come. This week's edition (with a letter to the editor) brings news of great progress on a southern
beach and a tale of sad loss of life on a northern beach. We have an article featuring piñatas
and another asking for your support for a petition signing. Surfing, beer, GPS, and a dog named
"Lucky" round out a great line-up. Summer Issues: This will be our last weekly edition as we head into the off-season. Our bi-weekly editions begin June 04
and will be arriving to your Inboxes every other Friday during the Summer and

Tragedy in Sayulita

A few days ago Sayulita suffered the terrible loss of a 40 year old American
citizen who left behind his wife and 13 and 7 year old sons after
drowning in the north beach of Sayulita. Nobody is quite sure how the drowning occurred as there was no rip current nor rocks to come into contact with in that area of

Sayulitanimals Holds Petition Signing For "Callejerito"

Approximately one year ago a defenseless puppy was
tortured and killed by four youths in an alley in the city of
Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico (3 hours north of Sayulita). Recently the video that one of the youths made during the act was uploaded onto the social network
Facebook where thousands of people viewed the incident. More >

New Local Businesses In Sayulita

A few new businesses have opened in Sayulita, providing their services
to all of us here in town. Although low season has officially arrived
and many local shops, stores, restaurants and other businesses will be
closing their doors for the season, these businesses have opened up and
look forward to providing their services to the community of Sayulita.

Most of us are back north, or going soon. Our Grupo Pro Sayulita
Thursday meetings have ended until next season (many thanks to Rick at
Iguana Azul restaurant for hosting them.) Most of the street washings
will stop because mother nature will more than take care of that.
Schools will let out so there's no need to do English teaching programs
to the kids. Yet recycling continues to be picked up. Trash collection
now has a better system. More >

Beer, It Says Mexico

there are few who can picture a day on a Mexican beach without at least

Pet of the Week: "Lucky"

This gentle guy is called Lucky because that is what he is. He used to
be a beach dog, always hanging around the Sayulita campgrounds,
and carefully selecting a tourist who would love and care for him
awhile. You can see that he has had a rough life, and if you had the
chance to spend time with him, you would feel his desire to belong and
have a family. He is not a dog that likes to be alone in the streets.
In February, he was hit by a car, and luckily a tourist, who knew and
cared about him, brought him to local vet Jose who was able to do a
minor surgery. Through Sayulitanimals he received excellent recovery
care and is fully restored. Now Lucky is ready for a caring person or
family to fall in love with him. He is in good health, neutered, and
simply beautiful. To adopt this dog or any other from Sayulitanimals, please contact Sara.  Este tipo suave se llama suerte porque eso es lo que es. Solía
ser un perro de playa, siempre rondando el campamento Sayulita, y una
cuidadosa selección de un turista que se aman y cuidan de él un rato. Usted
puede ver que él ha tenido una vida dura, y si usted tuvo la
oportunidad de pasar tiempo con él, lo haría sentir su deseo de
pertenecer y tener una familia. No es un perro que le gusta estar solo en las calles. En
febrero, fue atropellado por un coche, y por suerte un turista, que
conocía y se preocupaba por él, lo llevó al veterinario local José,
quien era capaz de hacer una cirugía menor. A través de Sayulitanimals recibió atención excelente recuperación y se encuentra totalmente restaurada. Ahora la suerte está listo para una persona que cuida o familiares que se enamoran de él. Él está en buen estado de salud, castrado, y simplemente hermoso. I love that no matter how small the event or venue, Sayulerans are
always enthusiastic about whatever it is that's going on and show up to
show support and have a good time. In this case, the Luche Libre
wrestlers turned up during Semana Santa for a performance at the soccer
field. While the wrestling seemed to be the same old, same old
(sorry-- been to too many this year I guess) the fans were spectacular! More Photos >
Me encanta que no importa
cuán pequeño sea el lugar o evento, siempre Sayulerans entusiasmados
con lo que sea que está pasando y se muestran para mostrar su apoyo y
pasar un buen rato. En este caso, los luchadores Luche Libre se
presentó durante la Semana Santa de una actuación en el campo de
fútbol. Si bien la lucha parecía ser el de siempre, de siempre (lo
siento - Ha estado en demasiados este año supongo) y los fans fueron

When was your first time in Sayulita? I first came to
Sayulita in 2007. I had been offered a job in Cuernavaca, Mexico but I
travelled first to Mexico City. In Mexico City I met an old friend who
was working at Haramara and invited me to Sayulita. I had never heard
of Sayulita before then but I thought I'd come to Sayulita before
starting my job in Cuernavaca. I liked Sayulita so much that I stayed
here and never went to Cuernavaca at all. Read entire interview >
Cuando fue tu primera vez en Sayulita? La primera
vez que lleque a Sayulita fue en 2007. Me ofrecieron un buen trabajo en
Cuernavaca, Mexico pero primero viaje al D.F. En el D.F. conoci a un
viejo amigo que estaba trabajando en Haramara y me invito a Sayulita.
Nunca habia escuchado de Sayulita antes asi que decidi venir aqui antes
de ir a trabajar en Cuernavaca. Me gusto Sayulita tanto que me quede
