Sayulitanimals Spay and Neuter Clinic

Dr. Charlotte Burns came with Dr. Chris Holmes in March to assist with the last spay and neuter clinic. She found the program to be a worthy cause and has chosen to return May 21st thru 24th, Friday thru Monday, to host another clinic. She will be bringing her vet tech Bliss Franklin to assist her. Charlotte and Bliss will be staying at Casita Amarilla, which was generously donated by Doug King, of "The Realty Kings." More >

Sayulita Controversy Over Land

On Friday May 7th, a group of over 60 Sayulita residents showed up at a meeting held at a home on Calle Marlin at 6 PM. The purpose of this meeting was to precede taking steps towards purchasing land for local families and people who otherwise wouldn't have a place to live or use of land to cultivate. This group of men and women from Sayulita have been working towards this goal for 6 years all together and has recently suffered a fall back. More >

Sayulita Vaccination Campaign A Success

The Sayulita vaccination campaign first initiated by Sayulitanimals was a success last week. The campaign was created by Sara Briner, founder of Sayulitanimals and was all in attempt to help motivate pet owners to take their dogs, especially young pups to get their yearly vaccinations. Many diseases such as Canine cough, distemper and parvovirus are treatable diseases, yet many puppies have died from these preventable illnesses. More >

Mother's Day In The Sayulita Plaza

This was a very special day for many Mexicans as we celebrated mother`s day on May 10th. In a country that still believes in family, we know that the founder of the family is the mother. The friends of Sayulita, along with the PRO SAYULITA group, hosted a party for the moms, last Sunday May 9th in the sayulita plaza. It's 4 a.m. and there is a full brass band blaring outside of my window. Actually, they are probably a good two blocks away but it sounds like they are in my bedroom. There are many Mexican customs I might never completely assimilate, but this one is starting to grow on me (a little). As utterly annoying as it is to everyone still sleeping in a 10-block radius, there is something sweet and at the same time mischievous about the tradition of waking up your beloved on the dawn (ahem, pre-dawn) of their birthday with a top-volume serenade of "Las Mañanitas." Son las 4 de la mañana y hay una banda tocando al volumen maximo fuera de mi ventana. En realidad, estan probablemente hace unas cuadras pero suena como si estan en mi recamera. Hay algunas cosas que no puedes ser completamente acostumbrados; pero esto, estoy empezando a entender. Por seguro es una molestia por todos los dormidos que no son parte de la fiesta, pero hay algo dulce y, al mismo tiempo pícara en esta tradición de despertar a su amada en la madrugada (ejem, antes del amanecer) de su cumpleaños con un serenata de alto volumen de "Las Mañanitas". This photo was shot from out front of the Sayulita trailer park one fine day last winter. Not being much of a backside surfer-hey, I was raised on right hand point breaks in Southern California-even head high lefts like this one challenge me. But more to the point, this was a dinky little wave by the standards of this particular day-one of dozens of such days that we had, with HUGE north swells pouring into Sayulita, making for one of the biggest and best winter surfing seasons anybody can remember. Al no ser parte de un surfista parte trasera-hey, yo me crié en el derecho se rompe la mano el punto del sur de California, incluso la cabeza alta izquierdas como ese desafío, se me. Migration - The View From "El Norte"

Joining the herons, hummingbirds, geese and Monarch butterflies, we snowbirds recently made the long migratory trip from our home in (Sayulita,) Mexico to "El Norte." Pet of the Week: "Puca"

Sayulita residents know and love Puca. She is Lety's friendly dog, from the "Torta and Juice Booth" on Av. Revolucion #50. Lety told Sayulitanimals that she can't keep Puca anymore because clients are complaining that Puca lays around her business and occasionally barks at certain people (men with machetes).  Those same men threatened to poison Puca! Puca is definately not an agressive dog!  She is just a dog and does what dogs do. She is accustomed to love and attention and needs to be with someone that spends time with her and keeps her as a pet, safe and secure.  She cannot run around town by herself. She is about 1 1/2 years old, totally healthy, and Sayulitanimals spayed her.

Los residentes de Sayulita conocen y aman a Puca. Ella es una perra amable de Lety, de la ventana "Torta y Juice" en la Avenida. Revolución # 50. Lety informo Sayulitanimals que ella no puede quedarse con Puca más tiempo porque los clientes se quejan de que Puca se acuesta en el piso del negocio y de vez en cuando ladra a algunas personas (hombres con machetes). Los mismos hombres amenazaron con envenenar a Puca! Puca definitivamente no es un perro agresivo! Ella es sólo una perra y hace lo que hacen todos los perros. Ella está acostumbrada al amor y la atención y necesita estar con alguien que pase tiempo con ella y la mantenga como un animal domésticado, seguro y protegido. Ella no puede recorrer el pueblo por sí misma. Ella tiene 1.5 años, es totalmente sana, y Sayulitanimals la esteralizo.

Like everyone else with a camera, I'm a sucker for sunsets. I kinda felt like I was scrapping the bottom of the barrel by posting sunsets, but when I starting looking at my pictures, I realized nothing compares with the colors that happen in the sky when the sun is setting.

Where are you from? I was born in San Pancho, Nayarit and I grew up here in Sayulita. My parents are from Sayulita and my grandparents are from Sayulita.

Family information? My entire family is from Sayulita. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I live here in Sayulita with my wife Zenaida Rodriguez who is also from Sayulita and her family is one of the founder families in Sayulita as well. We don't have any children but I have a nephew named Carlos.

¿Información de la familia? Toda mi familia es de Sayulita. Tengo 2 hermanos y 1 hermana. Vivo aquí en Sayulita con mi esposa Zenaida Rodriguez. Ella también nació en Sayulita y su familia es una de las familias fundadoras aquí en Sayulita también. No tenemos hijos pero tengo a un sobrino que se llama Carlos.
