Greetings 5,177 El Sayulero Readers,
Last weekend's center stage surf contest on the main
Sayulita beach was yet another crowd-pleaser newsworthy event (three separate
articles this week) as our village slowly enters our tranquil "slow"
season. Congratulations to Punta
Sayulita and the rest of the sponsors on the success of the event.
We recently placed "Newly Added Posts" from the Sayulita
Forum directly on the front page of El Sayulero in hopes of helping keeping our
readers even more up-to-date on local issues. Our articles this week cover a
range of subjects from a new sewer system in town, to a taco fundraiser for the
local school to an end-of-the-year-sale at one of our local boutique stores
here in Sayulita.
A good friend forwarded me a couple of great articles

El concurso de
surf que se llevo a cabo el fin de semana pasado en la playa principal fue un éxito
total y un evento de interés periodístico con tres diferentes artículos en esta
semana al empezar con nuestra temporada baja y tranquila. Felicitaciones a
Punta Sayulita y a otros patrocinadores para el éxito del evento.
Recientemente hemos colocado "Newly Added Posts"
del Foro de Sayulita directamente en la primera página de El Sayulero con la
esperanza de ayudar a mantener a nuestros lectores más enterados sobre los
problemas locales. Nuestros
artículos de esta semana cubren una gama de temas, desde un nuevo sistema de
alcantarillado en el pueblo, a un recaudador de fondos de tacos para la escuela
local y una venta para el fin del ano en una de nuestras tiendas locales aquí
en Sayulita.
Un buen amigo me envió un par de artículos interesantes sobre

 The 1st Longboard & Stand Up Paddle Punta Sayulita Surf Classic
2010 is over. It started on Friday April 16th with a meeting prior to
the event, only for competitors, where they were welcomed at the beach
house of Punta Sayulita. During Saturday and Sunday (April 17 and 18)
competition took place in front of the Sayulita surf school: Sayulita Surf
School is owned by Patricio Gonzales who we are eternally grateful for his support as an ambassador of the event and for providing his work space for
two days. More>
Comenzó el viernes 16 de Abril con una reunión previa al evento,
solo para Competidores, en donde se le dio la bienvenida a los
competidores en la Casa de Playa de Punta Sayulita.
Durante Sábado y
Domingo (17 y 18 de Abril) la competencia se llevo a cabo frente a la
escuela de surf: SAYULITA SURF SCHOOL de Patricio Gonzales a quien
agradecemos eternamente su apoyo como embajador del evento y por
facilitarnos su espacio de trabajo por dos días.

Bay of Banderas Proposes New Sewer System in Sayulita
 The Bay of Banderas municipality announced last week that new drainage
and sewer systems will undergo construction within the next 15 days in
the Mangal, Avestrus, 21 De Marzo and Las Pinas neigborhoods of
Sayulita. Lazaro Cardenas Garcia, head of the water commission in
Sayulita and surrounding areas says the project will take approximately
4 months to finish and the result will be better drainage systems
covering a wider area of Sayulita.

El ayuntamiento de Bahia de Banderas anuncio la semana pasada la
constuccion de alcantarillado sanitario en las colonias Avestrus,
Mangal, 21 de Marzo y Las Pinas que iniciraia en 15 dias a partir de la
fecha. El encargado del consejo de agua en Sayulita y area dice que el
proyecto duraria 4 meses en terminar con el resultado de un drenaje
mejorado en las colonias y para el pueblo de Sayulita.

 Alas, it is the end of the season, which will become the long hot Summer
that returns our little village to a quiet, slow-moving, less populated
version of itself. Sayulitanimals however knows no season, and our
programs, and those they serve continue as usual, with one exception:
Our in-season volunteers are leaving, and we are in serious need of
anyone who will volunteer even a small amount of time this summer. More->

CIRCO DE CARTON
 CIRCO DE CARTON is a project of the Colectivo San
Pancho (a group of local artists and performers) that will perform this
Saturday, April 24th at the plaza in Sayulita at 6:00P.M. This is a
free outdoor family event. Come enjoy a wonderful family experience.
The "Cardboard Circus" is a traveling
theatrical show with large cardboard puppets, paper mache masks,
stilts, dance, live music and fantastic stories of life, joy, magic and
the environment. Circo de Carton is a thoughtful and inspiring
experience for the whole family, created primarily with used cardboard,
recycled material and the community spirit.
The project´s objective is to introduce
local children and their families to community art and theater as well
as to increase consciousness about our environment.
The
project is partially funded by Bahia de Banderas Department of Culture,
CECAN and the support of individual donors. And is given by the
Colectivo San Pancho and Friends (Art Direction by Ariel Sainz).
CIRCO
DE CARTON es un proyecto del Colectivo San Pancho (un grupo de artistas
locales y artistas intérpretes o ejecutantes) que se llevará a cabo este
sábado, 24 de abril en la plaza de Sayulita a las 6:00 pm Este es un evento gratuito al aire libre para toda la familia. Vengan a disfrutar de una experiencia maravillosa familiar.
El
"Circo de cartón" es un espectáculo itinerante de teatro con títeres de
cartón grande, máscaras de papel maché, zancos, danza, música en vivo e
historias fantásticas de la vida, la alegría, la magia y el medio
ambiente. Circo
de Cartón es una experiencia reflexiva e inspiradora para toda la
familia, creado principalmente con cartón usados, material reciclado y
el espíritu de la comunidad.
El
objetivo del proyecto es introducir a los niños locales y sus familias
con el arte de la comunidad y teatro, así como para aumentar la
conciencia sobre nuestro medio ambiente.
El
proyecto está financiado parcialmente por Bahía de Banderas
Departamento de Cultura, CECAN y el apoyo de donantes individuales. Y viene dada por el Colectivo San Pancho y sus amigos (dirección artística de Ariel Sainz).

 While many of us are beginning to pack and think about life up North,
most of the local residents will continue life here. Many volunteers
at Grupo Pro Sayulita come down here and spend a great deal of energy
trying to make a difference, to make Sayulita a little bit better-- not
just during their stay, but for the entire year.

 Maximo and I recently returned from a vacation in good ol' Kentuckiana.
We had a great visit with Grammie Karen (my mom), Papa Mark (my
stepdad), and Uncle Zachy (my little bro), and Maximo got to meet a
whole heap of family that he instantly charmed the pants off of. More->

A Longboard Shootout in the Sayulita Surf
 Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a big fan of surfing as a
competitive sport. To me, surfing is about the surfer and the wave, and
the only issue with other surfers is how to avoid them unless they are
the friends you paddle out with. More>

 Everybody loved the Longboard Surf Classic Contest in Sayulita this
weekend. There were a bunch of great surfers out there doing fun moves
on the small waves. I focused on shooting them when they got out of the

"Kitties, Kitties"
 Spring means kitty season again! We have adorable kittens in all
shapes, colors and sizes ready for adoption. Spayed and neutered cats
are so easy to have and care for. They are wonderful companions, keep
your house free of mice and rats, and as with every pet, they make your
every day just that much more joyful.
Community Cat Trap and Release Program for You
 Sayulitanimals has a "cat trap and release program" and would like
to encourage you in the community to make use of it. We lend cat traps
to home and property owners with a feral cat problem. It's easy to trap
them and bring them to Sayulitanimals. The cat gets sterilized before
you take it back to release it where you trapped it. Your help will
have a huge impact on the cat overpopulation and the cat spray problem
in your community. Remember, this is a community effort!

tiene una trampa de gato "y programa de liberación" y le gustaría que
fomentar en la comunidad a hacer uso de ella. Prestamos trampas del gato de casa y dueños de propiedades con un problema de gatos callejeros. Es fácil para atraparlos y llevarlos ante la Sayulitanimals. El gato se esterilizan antes de tomarlo para liberarlo en la que se atrapada. Su ayuda tendrá un gran impacto en la sobrepoblación de gato y el problema del gato aerosol en su comunidad. Recuerde que este es un esfuerzo de la comunidad!
Si
usted es capaz de prestar el trampas para todos, incluso si no es
propietario de una propiedad, usted podría querer decir eso. Al igual que: "Damos las trampas del gato a aquellos de ustedes que residen en Sayulita con un problema de gatos callejeros."
