Greetings 5,138 El Sayulero Readers,
The town is getting back to normal and I would like to
congratulate our residents on how you have all pulled together and kept Sayulita clean. With the amount of influx of people to Sayulita at this time of year, I think we all had an enjoyable Semana Santa and Easter long weekend with no major incidents to report.
The weather has been hot, both tourists and locals alike have been
enjoying our local beaches and soaking up the sun. Many
of us are now getting used to the 2 hour time change that occurred last weekend
and now as we wind down after these last busy weeks, we look forward to more
mellow days and quiet nights.
Not to miss date:Saturday April 10th, the first Polo Cup "Lemmus -St. Regis" (France Vs. Mexico) is set to take place at the Polo Club in San Pancho. El pueblo está volviendo a la normalidad y me gustaría felicitar a
nuestros residentes sobre la forma en que todos se unían y
mantenían Sayulita limpio. Considerando
la cantidad de gente que llego a Sayulita en Semana Santa y durante el puente de pascua, la pasamos bien sin incidentes que reportar.
El clima ha sido caluroso, los turistas y residentes por igual disfrutan
de nuestras playas locales y espero que todos hayan tenido un buen fin
de semana de Pascua. Muchos
de nosotros estamos acostumbrando al cambio de 2 horas del tiempo que
ocurrió la semana pasada y ahora esperamos relajarnos después de estas
ultimas semanas ocupadas, esperamos con interés a los días más
suaves y las noches tranquilas.

Memorial Service for Christian Normandin.
 On Monday April 5th, 2010 Christian Normandin passed away at the age of 60. He
leaves behind his beloved daughter Malinalli, his sisters and brother
Monic, Lise (Marcel), Pierre (Rio), his nieces and nephews Frederique,
Eric, Martine, Alexandre, Michelle and many relatives and friends.
The Memorial will be held at 1pm at Don Pedro. The family will receive condolences.
In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be given to the charity of your choice.A memorial service will be held at Don Pedro's this Sunday April 11th at 1pm. All are welcome to attend.
El lunes 5 de abril 2010 cristiana Normandin falleció a la edad de 60 años. Él
deja atrás a su amada hija Malinalli, sus hermanas y el hermano de
Monic, Lise (Marcel), Pierre (Río), sus sobrinas y nefews Frédérique,
Eric, Martine, Alexandre, Michelle y muchos parientes y amigos.
El Memorial se celebrará a la 1pm en el Don Pedro.

Punta Sayulita Surf Contest and Stand Up Paddle Board Race.
 The 1st Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Stand-Up Paddle Classic is set to take place on April 17-18. The
field will be limited to 30 competitors made up of both professional
invitees and amateurs competing in various age group divisions as well
as in the "open" contest for the longboard and stand-up paddle surfing
categories. Professional short board surfers will also entertain
spectators with an "expression session" air show of acrobatic aerial
maneuvers.
In addition to the surf contest, on Sunday, April 18, a variety of
Stand-Up Paddle races will be held including the 5 mile "Punta to
Punta" race ocean distance race where paddlers will travel between
Sayulita and the neighboring village of San Francisco ("San Pancho") as
well as the fun 1 mile Tour of Sayulita race. These distance races will
be open to all ages and abilities. Registration is $200 pesos. For more details and registration click here.
On Sunday evening following both days of completion, the Classic Awards
Dinner Fiesta will be held at the Don Pedros oceanfront event palapa
where the competitors and guests will enjoy an authentic Mexican BBQ
buffet, live music and a live raffle. The Classic Fiesta is open to the
public and tickets at $150 pesos may be purchased at the door. Proceeds raised from the Classic will be donated to the local Sayulita
chapter of the Reef Check Foundation and The Punta Sayulita Foundation.

Sayulita Settles Into New Time Zone.
 On Sunday April 4th, Sayulita and the entire Bahia De Banderas
municipality changed the clocks ahead not just one, but two hours,
putting Sayulita on Central time, the same as Puerto Vallarta. This
change was mandated by the government in hopes to prevent confusion
between the different time zones in Puerto Vallarta and Bahia De
Banderas. Many local residents in Sayulita have found it to be a big
change to their schedules. The mornings are much darker with sunrise at
approximately 8 AM and the sun does not set now until approximately 9
PM at night. More->
El domingo 4 de abril, Sayulita y todo el municipio de Bahia De
Banderas cambio el horario por el verano pero esta vez no solo una hora
sino dos horas adelante poniendo a Sayulita en la misma hora de centro,
igual que Puerto Vallarta. Este cambio fue decretado por el gobierno
con la esperanza de evitar la confusión entre los diferentes husos de
horarios en Puerto Vallarta y Bahía de Banderas. Muchos residentes
locales en Sayulita han encontrado que es un gran cambio para

 This is the last week to register phone lines that had been signed up
in recent years in the RENAUT (National Register of cell phone users).
The House of Representatives refused an extension on registration days
and this Saturday April 10th will be the last day you can do it before
blocking the lines if you have not yet registered your phone. Phones
contracted out must be registered from this date on in order to use

 You really can't believe that the boat won't run over nearby swimmers
or that the captain really will manage to pull the engine up right at
the last moment before it would have smashed into the sand. I stand
agape every time and each time it goes like clockwork. Without a pier
or docks, fishing boats in Sayulita negotiate the waves and then make a
run for it at what looks like full speed to rush the boat up the beach
as far as possible. Then a group of men or a pickup truck tow the small
boat, or panga, up to its resting place at the highest point of the
beach. (The fisherman's beach is at the south end of the main beach,
just past Don Pedro's and Punta Sayulita.) More->

"mama and pup"
 This
is a mama with her female pup, who both need a home. Despite the
efforts of Sayulitanimals to convince the family to
spay/neuter its dogs, the family refused because they wanted to mate
her to get a male dog. Once she delivered the male, the family
abandoned her and the remaining female pup. Sayulitanimals spayed them
both and now wants to find them each a good home, together or
separately. They are both darling and deserve to be treated well and
respected.
 Esta
es una mama con su pequena cachorra y ellas necesitan una familia. A
pesar de los esfuerzos de sayulitanimals de convencer a la familia de esterlizar
a sus perros, la familia se reuso por que querian que la perra pariera
un macho para ellos. Una vez que ella pario a este cachorro macho la
familia abandono a la madre y a la cachorra por ser hembras.
Sayulitanimals esterilizo ambas y quiere encontrar para ellas un
buen hogar ya sea juntas o separadas . Ellas son muy dulces, sociables y necesitan ser tratadas con respeto y atencion.

First time in Sayulita? I first came to Sayulita in
2004, I was still studying at that time and my brother who was living
in Sayulita invited me here for a visit. I first came to live in
Sayulita in February 2009 and I worked in Sayulitanimals. My girlfriend
Paola then came to join me in Sayulita in April 2009.

que llegue a Sayulita fue en 2004, estuve estudiando todavía y mi
hermano que vivía aquí me invito a conocer Sayulita. La primera vez que
llegue para vivir fue en febrero de 2009 y empecé a trabajar en
